it took me about a month and a half b/c i was doing it on my spare time and i didnt have the mold of both top and bottom part of it...
now i believe if i ever meke another it could take half of the time, maybe less
Looking at how you did it and trying to figure out if I understand.
Would this work?
Make up a small vent part of the hood in a square. Then make a mold of the top of the hood. (did you make it out of fiberglass?) Cut a matching square out of the mold to match the vent and insert that into the mold.
This would give you the mold to lay the fiberglass fabric into. (what did you use to keep the fiberglass fabric from sticking to the mold?)
After you lay the fiberglass fabric into the mold you need a mold of the bottom of the hood right? (Using a similar process for making a mold of the top??)
From what I'm thinking, the bottom mold should really only be the support structure of the hood (right??)
Then after you have the top and bottom made, you cut out the holes in the vents and then stick them together? What do you use to stick them together?
Could you tell me if I'm missing anything here or if I'm totally off in how I'm seeing this done?

pretty much... if you have skills to work with fiber glass you can try and do it...
the first thing you should do is make a mold using something in spanish we call "polivinilico". its like liquid vynil that you can pour into a paint airgun and spray it onto the surface you ar going to work with... this way you avoid screwing the paint... after this point you make both molds of the hood.. the top and the bottom part with a couple thin layer of fiberglass and resin...
after having both "positive" sides you go and make the negatives (onto this is where you are going to lay the carbon fiber fabric)
keep in mind that before you do the "negative" you need to make all the necesary modifications to the "positive" mold... remember that everything you do to it will show up up side down on the negative...
i put toguether the inserts onto the mold using standard fibre glass resin..
when you make the negative, then you proceed to lay the CF fabric onto it... after you lay it out correctly you can spray CF resin on top of the whole hood, this way it gets hard...
when you complete the whole process of evening out the fabric and the resin, you need to sand it to make it rough texture free... and then you clear coat it.
i used resin all over to stick em toguether... both top and bottom and the inserts...
what you really need is a lot of patience :P

the speedometer, rpm gauge, fuel and temp works like a charm
chk engine and volt light works also...
i havent sat down and finish playing with the other signals to make em work b/c this is pretty much what you can see.
