Exclamation need help with Ralco Short throw shifter installation

Can't seem to find any instructions/vids for this install on my '04 IS300. can anyone help, and tell me if I can do this in my driveway, or if I need a lift to drop the transmission? Is it worth having dealer/shop install?

Install is fairly simple. No need to drop the tranny. If you're fairly confident in taking stuff apart, you should be able to take care of it yourself. Swapping out the shifter took me about 45 minutes. Here's the guide I used: http://my.is/forums/f53/install-pro-...ft-kit-106669/

When you do the install you mihgt have to swap the white thing that goes over the the ball joint on the bottom. You'll know what i mean when you get to it. I think the piece on the Ralco is just a little to big. Post the outcome. Im really debating on getting one.

You are absolutely right. I did have to swap out the white thing at the bottom with the stock one. SO easy to install. Tokk about an hour only because I was trying to fit the ralco "white thing" and it wouldn't. Thought I was just missing the hole. DRASTICALLY reduces your shift, too! Make sure you use plenty of grease on the new shifter, too. Gonna take some getting used to as well.

I can't thank you enough for sending me this guide. It was very helpful! And the install was uber easy to do! Now I'm off to break it in!

Glad to here the install was successful. Are the throws sticky? Do you get a humming sound at all? the main thing for me is the throws. I could get a counterweight head for the sound and it might possibly help with the shifting.

I have the Greddy counterweighted **** on mine and I don't notice any kind of improvement. The thing gets super hot if sitting in the sun or after a long drive.

Thats good to know. The GReddy was the one i was gonna go with. I've heard that the counterweight actually makes a difference but i guess not. Thanks for the info.
