Default Considering an IS300

I've been looking for one for the right price for quite a while. Is there anything I should look for when I go test drive it, and do a thorough inspection?

When going on the test drive is there anything I should look for?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

- if over 75k miles make sure timing belt has been changed already
- if 2002+ watch out for melting dashboard (donno if it can be avoided or not)

I can't think of any common issues with IS300's at the moment

http://my.is/forums/f115/2001-2005-i...s-list-201863/

I've had problems with the o2 sensors and the air mix servo in the climate control. With the IS starting to get up there in age, people are starting to see problems with worn out bushings...Particularly on the front lower control arms, and the steering rack. I just swapped out my No. 2 front lower control arm. I could see right through the old bushing. People are also starting to have problems with worn stabilizer bar endlinks. A lot of times, they look good and solid, but they cause an annoying clunk. I think people are also starting to have issues with front ball joints going bad. Bring some CD's with you, and make sure the changer still works. From what I've seen, it's not a matter of if your CD changer will fail, it's when.

Try to find an 02+ with at least 1 master key. It takes a master to program the ECU to accept another key. 2001 ECU's aren't flashable, and need to be replaced if you lose your keys.

Honestly I wouldn't get an 05 since they are probably asking upwards of $12,000+
I would get a 06 can get it for just about same price probably.

haha....I'm not saying that it's not nice and all because those pics are sick! ^ I love the first one.

I am just referring to the body style. It's all the same design now. So that's when modding comes into play. =)

Bleh, I just don't like the look of the 2gen IS. It does nothing for me. Well, I lie, I love the ISF but ONLY that one.

Check this out:

Guy claims he put an ES300 V6 in it, I sent him an email asking him

"So let me get this straight, you put a V6 out of an ES300 in there"

He replied "yes"
