Yes. Your just going thinner on the 40's, thicker on the 55's. I'm riding on 40's and it's fine.

My 30 series ride smooth as silk. 215/30/17. Also dropped the car an inch more than 45 series.

If you look close you can see them labeled as 40 series, but they only have 1.1 inch of sidewall so they measure as 30. (gear ratio)

There is nothing to worry about between 30 series 40 and 55, as far as mpg ride stuff like that, the lex drives so nice u won't really notice a difference between sizes. Get whatever ones u like 40 will be just fine

If you are dropped 2 inches, you probably won't want to run 215/55/17. The OD will be 1.7 inches taller than stock, and you will probably rub on the inner fender...especially if you don't remold the fender liner. You definitely don't want to run this size if you have spacers for flush fitment. Changing the tire's OD will also throw off your speedometer a little.

There shouldn't be any significant problems with the 215/40/17. The speedometer will be a little off, and your wheels will be slightly more prone to pot hole damage, but I don't see there being anything to be too concerned about.
