i wouldnt consider a 1J a downgrade. its a good motor and can produce some good HP numbers.

but to the OP, you have lots of options when modding the IS. NAT, 1J and 2J swaps even V8 swaps. all depends on what your interst is and your budget

that is very true, also swapping a TT 1jzgte would have more power than a stock 2jzge, I guess the reason they are calling it a downgrade is going from a 3.0 liter to a 2.5 liter.

Yeah but that swap is legit because its a 1jzgte with vvti and single turbo off a chaser, not just a regular 1jzgte

here you can see the madness of the Skyline IAC system. its retarded - has a separate regular IAC and a coldstart solenoid however both feed into the same hole. the solenoid must be plumbed into the chargepipe and not open air because they are known to leak boost.... i hate nissan.

c's shifter with TRD ****. i also got a shifter extension to raise it up about 2" from stock. shifts at this height are nice and easy and my hand doesn't have to move as far down for shifts. "shortened" shifters FTL!

i still love the look of the weld cover every time i look at it =)

This is the way im looking at it. If i can do a 1jz gte or vvti cheaper then 6000 then thats the way i want to go from the looks of it i can still get 450hp out of either engine

yeah you can get good power out of any of these engines, 2jzge na-t, 1jzgte,1jzgte vvti, 2jzgte (with or without vvti)

If it was me I would just go with the best, 2jzgte vvti (even though some argue that you can get more power out of the non vvti). You can get those engines for around 2k~3k. After that you would still have 2k~3k for labor and parts

But thats just me
