Default First IS300 & wheel fitment

Hello all I have finally purchased my first Lexus and its my favorite the First Gen IS300. I had to upgrade wheels because of the horrible wheels that came with the car(not the factorys because they are my favorite) but i havent seen alot on how big or wide or what size tire you can go on an Is300 so i took it upon myself to try and max it out. So far this is what i have. 20x8.5 front with 245/35 20 tires and 20x9.5 rear with 275/45 20 tires. fronts are +25 and rear are +20. this involved a fender roll and i havent got my lowering springs yet (1.5 drop F&R) so i will probably be changing wheels soon if i can find some. But anyway i have an invidea N1 catback and 5% tint and a body kit( came with the car not sure if i will keep it). but i thought id share some pics and info of my new baby.

P.S. unfortunately its an auto but that will change in the future

the first pic is how i got the car i had to drive it for miles like that and i was embarrased haha and the last i was showing the wheel fitting but i know the stitching will be noticed. its just an old drifting trick im using until my new bumper arrives

haha yeah they were just close by where i baught the car which was about 4 hours away from home. I like the style but i would love to find some 18s for it so i can really go crazy with suspension. Even factory 17s would be great. but they are temporary just couldnt deal with what it came with

The kit's overplayed in my opinion but it seems to catch the eye of almost every newbie. 20's are too much, 19's are the line and 18's fit the best for height and fitment.

Congrats on your ride. Damn....I would be embarrassed with those chrome wheels! Yeah, you should go with 18s or 17s and once it is lowered it will look great. GL!

^ Maybe you might want something a little less aggressive... I think if you drop your car enough you can pull off the c-west kit, replica or not when its looking fresh it definitely wont be "overplayed".

Wow those chromies are hideous. I say get some 18s, fix the cwest, and slam it. You'll be good to go

Congrats on the new car!

- First wheels are HORRIBLE, second wheels are not much better.
- Nice username, (slidingIS). Don't think you are going to be doing any sliding with those monster truck wheels on there.
- Don't think lowering your car with 20's on there is a good idea, I'm having a hard time being lowered with 19's.
- Stitching not necessary, front bumper doesn't look like it needs stitching.
(If your bumper is fiberglass and you want to save it from getting worse you need to drill a small hole at the end of the stress crack before it spreads more...)

I ordered another bumper and im trying to find 18s at the moment.

@ llllllllllllll I wasnt sure what i could do with the car once i got it so i was trying stuff out. I usually learn the hard way. The stitching was in no way necessary but the bumper was completely trashed when i got it. The stitching really helped temporarily and its funny. I had no intentions of ever using that bumper again. but how low is your car?

Don't really know how to measure the drop because i have coilovers
But I think it's a 3" drop & sitting on 19"s is very tight squeeze so I don't have them on for daily driving.

Shoulda got 3" drop
And yeah 18" rims is the way to go!!

I didn't want to get the over fender thinys because I think they are kinda ricey unless the car is really built up well. I have only seen 1 or 2 IS300 that I like with fender flares. But that's just me though...

The guy that rolled my fenders, I asked him to push them out some.
So my fenders are stretched like an inch and a half!!!!
