Hi guys, I'm a new addition to the IS family. I have some questions about general maintenence for my 03 IS 300.

oil changes - anybody have any suggestions for k&n filter? for example with my RX 300 i got the hp 2009 cause it was basically double the size which was not only better for filtering but it made it easier to change due to the location of it, also i was looking at the oil filter, looks like its in a worse spot than in the RX!

atf drain n fills - how often do you guys suggest doing it and what atf are you guys using?

any other suggestions on general maintenence?

i would suggest just changing the oil every 5k but if you want to do it every 3k it's fine by whatever you like. I find castrol full synthetic runs best on any japanese car. Oil filter can go either way...the K&N performance filters are nice and cheap, or you can go with the $11 Toyota Factory oil filter, on my choice i chose the factory just cause i can get them for $5 per filter and i have 60k on the mileage. just be ready for your 90k maintenance!!

castrol huh? I was running pennzoil full synthetic 5w-30 in the rx, most of the guys from the rx 300 forum thought the difference between the pennzoil and mobil 1 full synth was neglegible, there are a few guys over there that swear by castrol, but then again the rx had major issues with oil gel so
