Default Anyone else have issues with sticking door lock key cylinder?

If I lock my car with the key it locks ok as long as I don't over rotate back when removing the key. I have to rotate it back because it sticks in the locked position where the key turns over to the left and I can pull the key out and it still be stuck in the locked position over to the left. (resistance keeping it from returning back on it's own)

Why am I using the key you ask..... because due to this sticking issue when I use the remote to lock the car I can walk straight over to it and pull the door open with no problem. It doesn't lock because the lock cylinder is sticking.

#1- I advise everyone to lock their car and pull the handle with a little effort and a tug to make sure their cylinder is not sticking because.... let's be honest who'd bother checking that? We never use the key. Your car could be unlocked right now and you think it is locked. If you've ever pulled the door open and the alarm went off, there's your clue phone ringing.

#2- Has anyone ever messed with this problem and can recommend a way to get everything cleaned, lubed, and aligned properly to work like it should? (any exploded diagrams anywhere you know of?)

#3- Again, seriously...... check your door locks and make sure they are not sticking when you turn the key. You'll be leaving your car unlocked for a year and never know because nobody uses the key and checks this stuff. It's a huge problem waiting to happen to everybody.

i had a problem like that with my trunk lock. mine was so bad i thought it was a rusted or salted shut lock. all i needed was 2 squirts of the penatrating lube/spray. bought it at pepboys its a small black can. about the size of a redbull. anyways i sprayed it in there let it sit for a minute. and then worked the lock back and forth. no problems for 5 months now.

hope you get it working well.

I can't (read:won't) squirt WD40 or the equivalent into the door locks. They have sensors in them, and that fluid is conductive. Bad thing.

I don't ever use the key, but I think my Mum does. I better warn her of this.
