Default license plate lights

Hello world,
i drive a 2001 Lexus is300 sedan

my license plate lights burned out, so i was wondering what tools i need to replace it, and how to replace them..

i took off the trunk panel to access it from the back, but there was no opening to pull the lightbulb out.

what should i do?

should be in the owners manual. if not look at the lights and see if you replace them without opening the trunk - i have a gen2 so i may not be as helpful. this shouldnt be very difficult. search..........

hahahaa....okay, so far your on the right track.

Once you remove the panel from the lid. There, you will see 4 nuts that are attched to bolts, that hold on to that trunk bar w/key. You will want to remove those. Once removed, dont try to pull it off. You will break it. Where you removed the nuts, look around the side of the sheet metal. You will see 4 plastic nipples. You will need to find something that can push those nipples together, while easily pulling the trunk bar off.

Once removed, you can easily access the bulbs.

Just a note, you dont have to try to unbolt the key lock.

Hope this helps. If not, PM me and I will show you a link, that directly takes you to a spot, that will help you in your journey with the IS.
