Angry Help my 6 disc changer is not working

i have a 2001 is300 with the Stereo OEM 6 Disc CD Changer. I was wondering if there is some type of reset i can do. Currently the "disc" button is not responsive nor is the eject button. The load button seems to respond then it times out and switches to the radio. Note: the radio functions seems fine.

I would really...really like to retrieve my CD's!!!!

hey man, im betting you have an err 3 message.

its really not hard to take the stock HU out and pull the CDs out. theres a full write up over on MY.IS that you might want to check out in the mobilectronics section.

This seems to be a pretty common problem, at least this way you can get your cd's back.

just a word to the wise. there should be 1 unplugged slot on the HU if you dont have the heated seats. blew a fuse figuring that out the hard way!

You can do the DIY, or if a lexus dealership is nearby most will get your CD out free of charge. This happaned to me and I was going to go to the dealership, but one day I turned the car on and the CD magically popped out. Good Luck!

If the rubber wheels that eject the cd slip on the ejection of the cd, the cd will get stuck in a state that is half deep in the slot and half in the rack. If your cd seems to be suck when you eject it, if you can grab another cd quick and just press in lightly into the slot, alot of times this will be enough to let the wheels grab again and eject the cd....otherwise if you are handy, you can remove the head unit and take it apart to help eject the cd. You need to be careful not to damage any of the carriers, or you will be f'd. If you are using burnt cd's, try and use ones that are not perfectly glass smooth, and this may solve all your problems.....

I always thought it was due to inserting a burned CD into the factory HU? For whatever reason they don't seem to like the flavor of those...

I switched out my stock 6 disk for an Alpine unit to play my Ipod. My stock stereo was fine but I've noticed that stock CD players (in my previous Solara and my mom's BMW) seem to go out quite easily.

I use 100% burnt discs. The player has no problem reading them. But if you use the wrong brand, ones with no texture on the cd face, you can get the slippage of the rubber wheels on insertion and ejection that causes the error.
