Default Heater And A/C Controller

Hey Guys,
I've been having problems with my heating and A/C unit, if I turn up the heat One dregree from the coldest, then it comes full hot, If I turn back down it comes out really cold. There is no in between warm air.
Now my question is if the unit is gone bad since it's some what digital, or could it be something else. Has any one had this problem before and how did you go about to fix it.

Any advise is greatly appriciated.

Thank you in advance,

Your room temp sensor is unplugged. Sensor is located to the right of steering column and slightly toward underdash. It looks like a small speaker grill approximately 6 inches directly below ignition key.
