Question Which one is wider? US or Japanese Bumpers?

Hi There..

Quite New to the I.S / Altezza Range...
Just purchased a 99 model IS200 Sports Luxury in Mica Blue down here in Australia...

I had recently purchased a Vizage Lip Kit for my i.s online and had it delivered, only to find, that when i sit it over the stock ride bumpers, each end sticks out about 2" more than my actual stock bumper..

Therefore i am faced with this dilemma... Purchase the stock i.s bumper in the larger format either being US or JAPANESE and have the lip fitted to that , or cut the excess off both the back and front lip which i have purchased..

PLEASE ANY HELP ON THIS BUMPER SIZE ISSUE WILL HELP GREATLY..

As a lil extra info, i had the kit apparently imported from Japan, altthough research tells me that the vizage lip kit is a Californian Manufactured Product, therefore suited for US version, assuming that is the reason for its larger size.
Any help Thanks!!!!!

i believe the US bumper is the (only??) one with longer stickout. that's because the US has strict crush bar requirement, so lexus was forced to put on thicker crush bar, thus pushing out the bumper further

Now assuming i have a lip kit designed for a US style car,
-Is it possible, being in Australia, to order a stock US front bar and have it shipped / fitted here in Australia.??
Please let me know ASAP, so i can fit my visage kit!!!

Its Damn Sexy!, just cant stand looking at it in 4 pieces

Finding a US Spec bumper should be no problem. You are better off to find the part used since a new bumper cover, crash bar, foam reinforcement will cost you way too much at a dealership. Your best bet is to find a US supplier that sells "LKQ Parts" or aka Like Kind Quality parts. LKQ parts are commonly used in the body repair industry here in the States. You may want to check sources here like taprecycling.com or lkqparts.net to see if they can ship parts to you down under!

You should also be able to just get a used front and rear bumper skin from a US member who has done a complete bumper replacement for their body kit.

Some are also actually doing a Japanese conversion to the smaller bumper in order to fit the Japan offered kits. Pretty much the opposite of what you are doing.

You might post in the want ads. Maybe someone will directly trade you for your bumper parts if they are doing the Japanese "JDM" bumper conversion.
