Welcome to ClubLexus.
I would recommend an intake/ECU combo rather than just an intake. If you are looking for performance and not just audible feedback, the ECU is a must.
There are currently three vendors for the combo;
Swift Racing Technologies
Weapon-R/Intercrew
Area 51 Fabrications
Since I own a GS, I'll let the IS owners elaborate on these options.

no it wont void our warranty. please do a search on the warranty issue. aftermarket parts does not void your car's warranty, if it voids anything, its only the part it replaced and the dealer has to prove that the aftermarket part did the damage. as for intake/ecu combo...RMM does not carry one. RMM's intake have had a lot of bad feedbacks from a lot of owners. some claiming to have lost hp. srt and area51 seems the be the intake/ecu combo of choice right now.

Another Newbie
Hi all,
I just registered today after picking up my new IS last night. Mine is a 2001 Super Yellow with black/back leather/pseudosuede interior, 17s, LSD, and moonroof. The car is a blast to drive, I just can't wait to finish my break in!
One of my big complaints about this car is the lack of a centre armrest. Do any of the listers know where I can get an aftermarket unit made for this car? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Cheers

Armrest
The 2002's have a center arm rest! You should be able to retrofit. Along with autodim mirror and Homelink!
Just curious...my dealer offered me a $2800 discount on a 2002, how much of a discount did you get on a left over 2001?

Hi Joe,
I actually have Homelink in the 2001 (maybe the Canadian packaging is a little different).
With respect the 2002 centre console, my dealer tells me that you would have to change the entire console, I'm sure that wouldn't be cheap (likely in the CAD600+ range).
I got a pretty good discount (at least for Canada) on my 2001, but this was better than anyone else would have gotten, my dealer "owed me one"... in general right now, between Lexus and the dealer you can get about CAD3500 knocked off, plus a little more if you don't take the discounted lease/finance rates.
None of the dealers here discount at all on the 2002s, they pretty much have fixed price policy. It is important to note that margins in Canada are generally tighter than in the US due to our relatively weak dollar (nobody would buy any expensive cars, if any cars at all, if you took US prices x the exchange rate - USD35K would be close to CAD55K - who the heck would pay CAD 55K for an IS?
Are you thinking of switching from a 2001 to a 2002?
cheers

2001 vs 2001
Actually After driving the 2002 IS300, I ordered a 2002 BMW 330i Sport. That is a different story...I liked the IS very much...but it didn't have the overall package of the 330i that I liked.

Welcome to CL GePapa and speed. Just thought I'd mention, the US 01' IS comes with the homelink option as well. As for the center armrest, from what I've seen, it's not likely that you'll have to replace the whole center console. It actually looks more like an add-on piece (don't quote me on that though). In any case, if you just buy the part from the dealership and install it yourself (which should be a fairly simple install), it shouldn't cost all that much.
