tranny noise
Hey, I'm new to this site, and its great. But I'm in need of desperate help. I'm getting loud thumps from my IS300 5sp. tranny Almost everytime I shift from 1st to 2nd, and sometimes from 2nd to 3rd. Anyone know what this noise may be. Or is this typical of these cars. The dealer said that the fact that I have aftermarket sway-bars is why its making this noise. But I think that B.S. please help.

Count me as another with the thump.
It was more noticible in the summer, but now it seems less intrusive... perhaps I'm getting used to it.
Several threads on the my.is also talk about the infamous "thump" of the manual is300.
Some common fixes included: ignoring it, double clutching before shifting, transmission flush, using aftermarket transmission fluid or even transmission replacement.
To me, it makes no difference on how it drives and soon I forgot that it was even there.
