Has anyone driven their IS300 during the winter?
How does it hold up in the snow and ice?
Contemplating whether to buy an IS300 or the 3-series BMW with all-wheel drive

If you plan to drive a car in the snow, you're ALWAYS better off buying an all wheel drive car than a RWD. My IS300 did fine, considering I did not have snow tires for the winter..

Definitely get 'winter' tires for the IS300. The tires that are standard on the 17" rims (sorry, I forget the specs.) are HORRIBLE on snow and ice. No traction whatsoever. I ordered Michelin Arctic Alpins @ 205/55 16 and 16" rims from Tirerack for around $1200 - made a world of difference.

The stock 17" tires are summer tires. They DO NOT function in snow. I made it through last winter because we only had one day of snow. I left the car home and took the bus. I'm going to try to get through this winter too. Then it's all seasons for me. The stock 17" tires also have a distinctly mushy feel in cold weather (anything under 45 degrees, as far as I can tell) Be careful.
On the bright side, word is that the IS300 is just fine in snow if you put good snow tires on it.
