does any one know how to eliminate traction control completely on the is300. i know pulling the traction control fuse works on the mk4 supra, but does not work on the is300. i did this and it set the check engine light on and put the car in limp mode. had to give it 1/2 throttle to get the car to move. i belive turn it off with the switch that the computer still retards the timing.

you might want to check this thread out

This way you could still use TRAC if you wanted to but it would default to off when you start your car.

thanks for the reply, but that is not exactly what i am looking for. this only switches the light to be off when traction control is off. this will still retard the timing just like it does on the mk4 supra with an auto. i want to get ride of the ignition timing retard too. haven't you found that the is300 feels slow in first gear. especially if you turn and punch it and the car does not get sideways. no fun it is all about getting sideways
thanks again.
thanks again.

How do you know that the ignition timing is being retarded? Try this: go to a parking lot (or some other abandoned area), come to a stop with the steering wheel turned all the way to the left, disable TRAC, floor it and hold on. I have the limited-slip diff, but my car starts spinning both tiires majorly about 180 degrees into it. If it was altering ignition timing, you'd hear it or feel it. The probably with the IS300 is that it has no grunt below 3000 RPM making it difficult to spin the tires at low speed.

i have done some research with the 95 mk4 supra owner manual and electrical diagram book. i don;t think the computer retards the timing any more. traction control controls engine torque by closing the subthrottle blade, but the traction control also applies the brakes. to keep the wheels from spining. i can take a 90 degree turn at 35 40 miles per hour with the tracktion control turned off and the transmission in 2nd gear and floor it and don't even get sideways. also i can turn 180 degrees and floor it through the turn and when it feels like it is going to get side ways it stops. i think that is the brakes being applied by the traction control computer. i need to get the service manuals for the is300 so i can see how they have it set up. abs and traction control actuator and pump are separate on the mk4 supra, but i think they only use one on the is300.
