Daytime running lights, 2002 IS 300
Hey all,
I'm new to the forum and had a question about the 2002 Lexus IS 300 I just bought. Do the running lights stay on at all times? Is there a way to turn them off? The book doesn't address this.
Thanks for the help,
Jonny

they do stay on all the time, but there is a way to shut them off. Really easy....
If you look in front in the battery, there is a box with a wire harness clipped to it. The box is circled in blue and the wire is circled in yellow. Basically you can either unclip the wire harnesses and then wrap them in some electrical tape (this way you can re-attach them if you want). Or you can unclip the wire harness and then remove the box all together.

If you live in a state like mine, though, I'd think twice before disconnecting them. DRL's, even if they wear out the bulbs a little quicker, are nice to have in states like mine ( VA ) with that idiotic law about having to have headlights on when wipers are working or when visibility is less than 500 feet ( at the police officer's discretion ).Most of us ( me included ) often forget to turn them on and off manually with the wipers, so having them on all the time is good insurance against getting a needless ticket.
