Default Black is better than blue

The controls (computer) may be messed up as it tries to maintain proper air to fuel ratio for prope cumbustion. You are seeing the result. Is fuel mileage down as well?

Black smoke usually indicates a really rich A/F ratio, (too much fuel).
First I would try to just disconnect the negative battery cable for a couple minutes to reset the computer, drive around a while and see if it returns or is still the same.

If so, take it to the dealer and have them look at it and run a diagnostic to see if somethings up. They should be able to do this no problem.

Do you have any mods? How many miles on the car?
What is your mileage in mpg's?

Good luck!

Muffler shouldn't cause anything like that. Have you tried disconnecting the battery to reset the computer yet?

If you're really concerned, take it to the dealer, they should check it for you, you just have to be tough and tell them it just isn't right and you're spending too much on gas.

Good luck,

Let us know how it goes.

Anyone haveing high tranny rev on quick accel. Seems like the tranny is slipping gears. This is in D. Don't have it when TRAC OFF or ECT is on. Is this a prob???
