I am selling a set of 20x8.5 rims with 245-35 tires and was wondering if these would fit on a IS 300. Is it possible? I was asked by an IS owner, but still not sure what to tell him. Any input would be greatly appreciated. To me, it seems like they wouldn't, but you never know.

I don't know how wide you can go, but word is that anything over 18" is a problem...rubs in the turns.

20s won't fit. I tried it with a 42 offset (20x8.5) wheel. It hit the upper ball joint. I'm kinda bummed, I wanted to look like a rap star rollin on dubs.

I work at a custom wheel shop and I've done as big as 19" with 19x8.0 front and 19x9.0 rear and used 235-35-19 in front and 265-30-19 rear. Attached is a pic. of the car.

They worked good probably because the wheels are custom built for the car, but all we really had to do is roll the rear fender a little bit. LIke I said they are custom built wheels so the offsets are exactly what there supposed to be

There are people putting 19's on their IS's all over the place in the IS300.net forum.
Some guy in Miami put 19x8.5 front and 19x9 in the rear in the Volk Racing AV3's He used a 275 tire in the rear too. It is even lowered on coilovers. Had to roll his fenders though.

Yes, it did a little but it was really not a big deal. You got to see that every wheel will fit this car different because not every wheel is built to fit this vehicle, but when the wheel is built for the car the specs are exactly what they are supposed to be so that it will fit the car at its best.
