ah sorry i typed too fast. they are 2jz-ge. the engine on the 1st generation (current) is300 is exactly the same on the previous generation gs300. both 2jz-ge with vvti.

the new gs300 (06) has a v6, and the new IS will have v6 too

there will be no more i6. not from toyota, or from other jdm manufacturers

oh thanks. i was just a bit confused haha.
so basically im buying the same engine... hmm...
i wonder why i see so many more readily available aftermarket parts for the is300 than my gs300.
will i be able to find aftermarket parts for an is300 easily?
i know on the first gen gs forums many had to do custom intake jobs and such. from the forums i see here, it seems that many of you mod with parts made my companies. it is quite hard to find parts for a first gen gs300. since supras, gs300's and is300's have the same engines, shouldnt there be an equal amount of parts for each?

well the parts for is300 is tremendous, a lot of choices for you. yes they are the same engine but due to space, ecu, etc... they are all different. see, the same engine and it's pushing 215hp on the is300, but i think it's doing 225hp on the 2nd gen gs300?

anyway, the is300 is designed to be a pure sport car, so the aftermarket support being a lot more than the gs300 that's completely normal

and yes, you are getting the same engine again

no problem, if i can help i am more than happy to

vsc is vehicle stability control i believe. it senses the state of teh car, if wheels slide or it sense that the car is out of control, it takes over and control the car for you, like cut off engine power, or even brake for you.

i have never heard about floor mounted eshift, what the heck is that?! the e shift has always been o nthe steering wheel

weird. at least not on the 1st gen is300. i know on the upcoming second generation, you can do it at the shift **** area. but on the 1st gen auto, it's only on the steering wheel

Yeah - by stability control I meant VSC. VSC and Traction Control work together (share some components). VSC was added to the 2nd gen GS and there was one button labeld "VSC" that would deactivate VSC and TRAC.

I posted here a while back trying to find out how you could tell if an IS300 was equipped with VSC and got a bunch of confused statements about how it was/was not available (easily answered by the freakin' brochure). I think it is controlled (if equipped) through the TRAC button. Someone mentioned that there was a light on the dash ....but all the other owners, I presume, did not order it at $350 or did not care to confirm their order/build sheets.

you know, i was looking through the club lexus classifieds and i beleive your car was one of the deciding benefactors for me to go for the is300. i was thinking about a 3 series too but i already have a lexus gs and i am very happy with it. even though it was 130k miles haha but yeah. missouri has a few floating around. namely a 2001 with 44k for 19k.... i dunno how that sounds.. but i know since its a private seller we can probably go a little lower. but i do like your car a lot. why are you lettin it go?

hahaa man, so i should charge you commission for that j/k. i am glad that my car helped you to make your choice.

actually 44k for 19k i think it's about right, maybe a bit lower but not much. my car blue book is actually 26k right now. but i don't want to go through the hassle of people negotiating, so i just set it lower, my loss is other people's gain. i want everyone to be happy.

heck, you sure you dont' want me to just ship the car over, i think it's pretty cheap like 500 bucks only, remember, 11k miles, fully warranty 2003

oh and we already have a gs400 and sc430, so the is300 is extra and gotta sell it
