IS 300 VSC ... How do you know if equipped
Hello all,
How can you tell if an IS 300 is equipped with VSC? I was at the Lexus dealer today and the salesman said that you can't tell as the switch still says "TRAC off". is this the case? I would imagine that there would be some way to tell.
I am thinking about picking up a pre-owned IS and would like to be able to figure out if it has it or not.
Thanks.

Wow learn something new every day! I thought for sure it was standard on all ISs, but you are absolutely right.
Looks like it was added as an option in 2002 according to Lexus website

As far as I know, the '05 models don't have VSC option anymore and LSD only comes with navigation models. So basically for '05 E-Shift, you have 3 choices - Leather/Alcantara, Leather or Leather with LSD and navigation. BTW, the sales didn't know jack.

VSC is an option on '05 automatics, just as it has been since '02.
LSD is no longer available with the manual transmission (only with e-shift).
Cloth is not an option anymore but Alcantara is .
For the reocord, I don't care if it is an '05 - I will likely buy used anyway. I am just trying to figure out how I can tell if the car has VSC. Whether the salesman knew anything or not ...I do not know. I have never seen anything on an IS that indicates that it has VSC, so perhaps his answer has some legitimacy. The GS for example has one button labled VSC that deactivates both traction control and VSC. So far, no one here has been able to tell me anything. Someone out there must own a car with VSC (it is a sub-$400 option I beleive)?
Thanks.

Wouldn't the easiest way to find out is to sit in the car and turn the key to ON? If the car has a VSC light, then most likely it has it.
