Anyone have info on installing Timing Belt?
Hey All,
I was wondering if anyone has access to a tech article describing timing belt installation for the '01 IS300. A friend of mine in putting in a new water pump and timing belt on my IS, and needs the specs.
I've looked though the site a bit, and haven't seen anything with this data...unless I'm blind :-)

sorry no details here
.. .but.. .BE VERY CAREFUL!!! valve/piston timing is CRUCIAL in these "High intereference Motors"
DONT ask me how i Know this....,
it is SOO easy to RUIN your perfectly FINE motor when you jack up the cars crank/ valve timing even just SLIGHTLY...... even tho you THINK you know or someone helping you says they do.. TAKE EVERY PRECAUTION...
Or take it to a QUALIFIED technician......
& if you have the extra cash this is a good time to install a Cam gear as well saves $$ later on if you plan to upgrade that eventually....

Hey Edgy...good words. I'm just looking to get the car back on the road w/o any mods at all. I'll 'prolly pump her up a bit later on, but for right now, just the regular install is fine. I've got a tech who is otherwise doing the bodywork, however he needs the settings for the timing belt install before he can continue.
Thanks for the heads up, though - I didn't know this was an interference motor. My SC400 I understand is not.

Hey All,
Rominl (sp?) posted that there was a link on the forum already that covered this subject. Can anyone tell me / does anyone know where it is? I chased down a few links, but didn't find anything but generalities. Anyone know of a specific link / tech article regarding exact settings / procedures for installing a timing belt on an '01 IS300?
This is the main thing keping me from putting the car on the road! Arrggh!

Hey this is really useful info
I would give u +rep but this aint .net
hehe
anyways, these instructions should be the same for RHD vehicles too right?
I have the electrical wiring manual and I know that there are separate sections for LHD and RHD, just wondering if this was the same for these instructions? (which I need for install of a cam gear)
Many thanks
