Default my mechanic wants to charge 360 for install...

is th is a rip off? he will be installing a Blitz Realize TT exhaust, and a set of four eibach springs...i think that price is rediculous. he charges $60 an hour and estimates that it will take 6 hours.

he called lexus directly to ask how long it would take to install the springs. and estimates it will take him an hour to install the exhaust

install suspension all the way around the car and even install an exaust on top of that for $360???
If you are going to complain about a price that cheap you don't deserve that price. C'mon now.... That's chump change.

i just don't think it will take 5 hours to install the springs (my friend did it himself and he knows nothing about installing. it took him 4 hours.) and 1 hour to install an exhuast??

I think $360 is a little high for springs and an exhaust. It shouldn't take the guy more than a few hours to do all of that, unless he doesn't have a lift.

Installing springs can be a bit of a pain and take some time, but you should not be charged anymore than a 1/2 hour for the exhaust IMO.

Completely agree with bchau_gt.

Seems a bit pricey, in my opinion ...
When I got my Teins installed, it took about 2.5-3 hours long.
I was charged $150 for it, although it seems like a good deal, my mechanic actually explained why it was so "much." He informed me that Lexus models' springs/shocks are pain in the butt to remove, thus causing the price increase.
As for the exhaust, i'm not too sure. Shouldn't cost too much to install.

it really depends on which part of teh US you are in i think. here in norcal, you probably talk about 250 for the whole job. in socal, doing springs and exhaust you can easily get them done for 150 to 200 max, done in 2 hours.

i know some places in the east cost springs install could be 500 bucks (stupid imho)

$250 -$300 seems about average....

Keep in mind spring install going to cost just as much as spring/shock or coilover install because you basically doing the same thing. $175-$200.
Exhaust install may be about $75-$100 .....

$360 is not that outrageous.

6hrs of work is not far off if the mechanic is NOT familiar with the IS300.

3-4 hours MAX if hes worked on IS300's before.

I guess so.
I'm not too sure how much installs and such run down in the states, since i'm actually located in Ontario, Canada. Somehow, I always presumed that US would have things costing slightly lesser...but as I said, it's just my presumption.

hehe...It's simple...
The US Government feels as if Californians should be punished for their nice, warm temperatures and beautiful beaches. Other states must suffer the chilly, winter months, while you folks have it easy...lols...

Who knows? Could very well be...
The US Government punishing innocent Californians with high installation prices, since the majority of individuals located in Cali are mod freaks, and can drive their vehicles all year 'round.

I'm definately jealous!
