IS200 with 2JZ-GTE swap?
Hi,
i was thinking (later, end 2005 or later) to buy a IS200 maybe with a broken engine and swap a 2JZ-GTE in it and maybe upgrade it etc...
How much using a hammer is needed? :cyclon:
What would be needed, id buy the 6speed but ive heard that the gearbox can handle only 250 safely...
Would the Getrag V160 or V161 fit, i dont wnat the 5sped.
Driveshaft etc... what do i need, what would it cost?
I want a really fast daily driver, id rather have it than a sti or evo where id need to go to the inspection every 5000 miles and so on.
we dont have the Is300 with a manual gearbox...

There is a guy (in Australia I think) that is doing this. There is a huge 8 page thread on this over at is300.net in the Go Faster Forum. I have personally not read it but I think it would be able to answer most, if not all, of your questions.

and if you wanna do the gte swap, you should put in the getrag 6 speed o at least something stronger, otherwise the stock tranny it can't hold that much power. i know the 5 speed on is300 here in the US it can hold about 300 at the wheels?

So his best bet would be the supra 6 speed since he wants the 2JZGTE.

The V160 and V161 are the Getrag Trannys and i have heard they can hold up to 900whp.
