Default Looking for ideas what to do cosmetically to my IS next please!

Hey everybody, I'm after some tips on what to do next to the exterior of my IS.

I'm a newbie to this site, I'm from the UK and have the IS200, the IS300's little, much slower, brother

Here's my car after I got it back from the bodyshop today:

More here:

Sexy shot
Front end
Check the twin's (Hipers) out from behind!
Front passenger side
Pretty shiny!

Now bear in mind this is a UK spec IS200, the full mod list can be seen here:

Click here for full mod list

What do you think should be next?

The engine is only the small 2 litre 1G-FE which we get in Europe, it's got a supercharger in there but she's getting pretty near to the limit now Since I'm using this engine it kind of rules out any engine mods available in the US as they won't work with this engine, it's one of the reasons I'm thinking of trading up to the 300 as there's a lot more power to play with, the 1G-FE sort of craps out at between 260-280bhp before it becomes unsafe and all internals need upgrading.

I posted this over at IS300.net as well but thought I'd try here too to see what other feedback I can get.

I'm planning on sorting out the front light clusters so they're like the JDM spec, ie dark, but apart from that I'm not sure where to go next - I'm not sure about debadging the front or the back, as I like the chrome badges as they break things up nicely. Any other ideas please?

Thanks in advance,

Aido

Wow looks great! Welcome to CL btw. You need a rear wing. A nice L-Tuned spoiler will compliment the rest of the car as well as a roof spoiler.

As for the 2JZ-GE, were you planning to swap or just get a IS300 from a different market? If engine swap is concerned, I would look into a 1JZ-GTE or 2JZ-GTE swap depending on your budget. The 2JZ-GE is great, but it's still underpowered for the chassis in stock form honestly.

Thanks for the welcome

I've currently got the standard lip spoiler without the integrated brake light as came standard with the car a few years ago, I was thinking about putting the really small TTE lip spoiler on the back as it's very understated and looks good, but I guess it has shades of the BMW M3 as it basically looks like what comes on there as standard.

Will look into that L-Tuned part, I don't think anyone in the UK has that so could be interesting, thanks

I was planning on swapping the entire car and not just the engine, it's just easier (and cheaper) to do that and start sticking in the plug and play turbo's etc available in the US.

I've got a friend who did the 2JZ-GTE transplant with the twin turbos (hello Mat), it's not fully mapped yet but we went out for a drive with it limited to 4000 revs and it's scary how much power that thing has, think they're looking at 650bhp but that's in UK measurements, I think there's a difference between UK & US measurements, not sure to be honest. Looks very nice though, and the sound is just fantastic using the same twin HKS Hiper system I've got

You can get some ideas of stuff we have out here from the last big Lexus meet we had a couple weeks back in Northern California (Photos Courtesy of Palm Photography):

Here's the L-tuned spoiler on my friend SilverAltezza's car:

hey welcome to clublexus!

imho, a rear wing or a roof spoiler would definitely help. or if you want, smoke out the headlights and taillights, that would look mean too

Your car looks tight, IMO.

Go to the 300 if you can. Spend your $$ there.

Aidan,
a nice Carbon Fiber hood would be nice especially since you have a dark car.

Have got to admit I'm tempted by the carbon hood, looks about the same colour as the graphite and won't really stand out - will have a think about it!

HKGS300 - is that you Alex? Just wondering how you knew my name

As for the lights, the rears are already the dark chrome, just need to sort the fronts out - it would be nice if you could get a set of fronts in the same finish as the rears but they don't do them, so guess I'll have to go with matte black like the JDM ones.

Other parts you can consider ...

Big brakes ...
CF door sills
C-One rear spoiler...

Definately get a CF hood. I have one on my green IS and I love it... Makes a difference, plus loose a little weight.

great looking IS and welcome to CL! I would say a trunk spoiler and a roof spoiler and then a carbon fiber hood sometime. great job so far!

it's the visage (vizage) kit. one of the most popular kits out here in the US...

btw, aido, your car looks good. i'd suggest the Ltuned rear spoiler as well...

Thanks for the comments, I've just had a look on l-tunedparts.com but can't see that spoiler, they have the LSportline spoiler but it is much smaller, like the TTE lip - I do like that a lot as it's very subtle!

Is that spoiler you posted discontinued?

TIA.

Welcome to the new member who has been here 6 months

The car looks great. stick with flowing subtle modded lines and you'll enjoy the outcome.
