The new GS is going to arrive in March of 2005. The next IS is expected to follow shortly after that, probably around June. Expect a sedan, coupe, convertible and possibly wagon, as well as a variety of engines and transmissions. The base engine should be the 3.0L DI V-6 that's going to see fitment in the '06 GS300, and from there we should see a 3.5L 285HP turbo V-6, and probably a 4.5 or 4.6L V-8 making around 375 or 400HP. All engines should come standard with a close ratio six speed automatic transmission, or an available 6spd manual on the sedan and coupe.
The horsepower specs are not 100% accurate information, but are ballpark estimates. I'm sure we'll see the car in mid '05 with two V6's and a V8 as well as sedan, coupe, convertible and possibly wagon variants.

Can you stand one more "official" new body launch date....?
The new GS's are coming March 2005..
RX400H coming April 2005..
GS3 AWD summer 2005...
IS300 sedan ONLY fall 2005...the convertible and coupe will be coming later..unsure when..
And Toyota /Lexus would rather build Hybrids all day long..rather than a "turbo" or a "supercharged". Although, they will be building them in the new LS down the road.
Just got this information last week. And there is a Lexus dealer meeting going on right now in Washington DC, so by next week I'll have a whole lot more information.

I can't help but think that it'd be smarter for them to have as many models available as possible at launch. With the current gen they waited a year for the 5spd and even longer for the SportCross, and that's one of the factors that hurt sales, especially for the manual. When the car does finally come out, I think they should have the sedan, coupe and wagon, as well as all the engine options (except high performance V-8 maybe), and the automatic and manual models available AT LAUNCH. Summer of 2006 should be the convertible and then the M3/S4 fighter.

the 2.2 diesel will have 181 hp and 400Nm Torque
as for the new IS models, all i can say is it will look nothing like the current car, or indeed like any of the "photochop" versions floating around.............

I wonder how much longer it'll be before we see a preproduction model of the next IS, and no I'm not talking about the LF-C. It's supposed to come out 6 months after the GS, which would make it exactly a year from now. We saw the new GS back in January and it's not out until March of the following year.

plus, i am sure most people agree with you on what lexus should have done. but knowing the history of lexus and how they attack the market, it's not hard to predict what they have done so far. heck, they are still successful
