excuse me if i'm a noob, but i don't really know anything about lexus'. (i like them but i don't own one. i'm more of a bmw enthusiast but i'd love to have an is300 as well)

i have noticed that some is300's have normal looking altezza taillights while other is300's have the smoked altezza taillights. which is300's come with the smoked taillights (is it a specific year that they started making the smoked taillights or a specific option or package)? trd package perhaps?

also, how hard is it to swap is300 taillights (my girl has the clear normal looking altezzas on her is300 and she wants the smoked ones)?

last question, where can i get the smoked taillights?

hey its swyyyguy from H-I.com! haha. i know that the 2004s come with lightly smoked tail lights stock. and the 01-03s are just straight chrome, unless its on what i believe are the white, black, or red ISs then they come in the dark smoked tails.

Correct me if im wrong.

And i think she can just swap it out with no problem.

i've done a bit of research and i've come up with the following conclusion: the 01 and before is300's have the chrome taillights, the 02-03 have the darker smoked ones, and the 04+ have taillights darker than the 01 but lighter than the 02-03. is this correct?

01-03's have chrome tails. From 02-03, the lighter colored cars had the plain silver tails and the darker colors got the darker black chrome ones. The 04 and newer have smoked head tails and fogs but they are not as dark as the 02-03 version for the darker colors. The Sport Design 04 version and regular 04 lights are totally different in texture. The SD versions are a satin finished with more of a gray/brown hue to it. The 03 SD and 04 tails, fogs and headlights are similar in color, but the SD has more of a blue tone to it.

If you look up the history of Lextasy on this forum and IS300.net, you will see that they are banned from both communities...and for a good reason. Good luck!
