They waited until we tried to check on its status and told us we needed to special order that color. Hello! What did we give you that money for? Fun?!? Any rate, Longo hooked us up, gave a great deal. We drove down to LA LA Land from the Bay Area in a Chrysler Sebring and back up the next day with a hot new ride. Since we picked up little Hikaru in December of 2002, I tell everyone that I got the last one that Lexus will ever make. I'm sticking to that story until someone can prove me wrong. Total elapsed time from 1st order at Serramonte to pick up at Longo was six months.
I know of two other Solar Yellow SportX and three sedans in the Bay Area. One SportX is owned by an elderly couple that I've seen on I880 near Oakland, the other I see parked in The Castro. I almost bought one from Serramonte a few months before I actually started to try. It didn't have the nav system. None of the ones that I reffer to here have one that I can see.
Serramonte has a sedan for sale, there is a partly wrecked one on 19th near GG Park and I see one going on the opposite commute to mine on 101 once in a while.
I've also seen a few of each in LA.
I also agree that the right person will pay top dollar for a Solar Yellow IS300. However, I'm afraid that I cannot allow you to buy one if you live in the bay area. That's already far too many to detract from the specialness of my baby! I'll have to go to Steven's Creek and have them ship theirs back to Japan when I'm done work today!

hey i have a 2004 Black Onyx SportCross.
if you want a 2004 SportCross, you probably would have to place an order to get the one you want. They really do not make that many of them.
I am in Virginia. I had to order mine. I only waited about 1 month from ordering to delievery. BUT it normally takes 60-90 days to get your car after placing the order.
I went to Longo Lexus while visiting my GF. this is after i placed the order for my sportcross in VA.
i didn't get to see the car before i placed the order since no one has it in stock.
anyway, so i just wanted to check it out since i was near Longo Lexus. the sales ppl were really nice. the dealership is absolutely huge. Longo Lexus just acquired the Home Depot building that was behind them and converting it into the new Lexus showroom. CRAZY. oh yeah, the dealership is so big that the guy had to take me on the golf cart to check the inventory in the Underground Garage to see if they had a sportcross in stock.
Anyway, Longo, being THE largest Lexus dealership in the world, did not have a SportCross in stock. The salesperson said they had 2 in stock about a week ago (this is in mid october 2003).
To make a long story short, not many know about the sportcross. many dealerships will not stock this model. it is a rare gem in the lexus family.
so be prepared to order a 2004 and wait from 60-90 days. but i will tell you something, it is worth the wait!
i have yet to see another SportCross in Virginia after 4 months of driving around.
i do know there's a couple of sportcross out there...but very very very FEW! we are special.

oh yeah, i guess i did not answer your question either.
it is a bit tougher to wheel and deal when the dealership knows that you want the car already.
so definitely go in like you are also looking at something else like the 3-series wagon, VW passat wagon, etc. i was only able to cut $2000 off the MSRP.
most dealerships want to sell you what they got their lot instead of going through the trouble of ordering. yeah, so they are more reluctant to cut you a good deal.

She even has two silver ones that are 2005. I will be looking at them, right when I get back in town. Currently stuck in FL for some business.

Ryan,
I purchased mine on Aug 2004 at Lexus Mission Viejo.
04' Fully loaded but NO moonroof.....go figure MSRP 37XXX, got it down to 30000 flat before tax and license.
There were another one on the lot, black/black fully loaded.
I heard they will order a few Sportcross for 2005 as well, you might want to check it out.
Good luck!!

TRD,
Thank you for the info. Yeah there seem to be black ones around, but I don't want a dark color, for maintenance purposes.
Yeah the dealer near my house (thousand oaks) is willing to special order me a car, with a 3-4 month wait, which is not a big deal.
However, since Elizabeth is a sponsor at Longo, I would rather give her my business. Not sure if they special order, or if I will have to buy off the lot.
Since I don't need the car tomorrow, I can wait for the right price. Now the question is used versus new.
I also checked the KBB prices and it is as follow for 2005 year. I don't know the accuracy of these, especially the IS Sport Cross being such a slow seller.
PRICING DETAIL AND REQUIRED MINIMUM EQUIPMENT
INVOICE RETAIL
27,108.00 30,805.00
Destination Charge 545.00 545.00
Required Minimum Equipment 0.00 0.00
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------
Price With Destination Charge 27,653.00 31,350.00

I just need a japanese wagon, and this is the only thing I can think of.
No worries, I will only buy from Longo, but since I wont be in LA for a few weeks, I gotta go test drive at least.
I have heard the IS's are really thirsty as far as gas goes....opinions/thoughts?
