Default bike hitch

I'm an active gal that likes the outdoors and mtn biking. The problem I have is that I purchased a 2002 IS 300. I love it to death. It has the speed I need and want, but I'm having a hard time taking my mountain bike out. I have to make sure a friend can transport my bike.

So I just ordered a bike hitch. The sporting store will install it. They said I can only have 200 lbs on it equivalent to two bikes only. Was this a good idea? I'm too afraid of purchasing a trunk or roof rack because I might scratch the car. While I was at the store, they were installing a hitch on another IS, which calmed my nervous, but now I'm having buyers remorse. The hitch is not installed yet, I ordered it and will be here in 2 weeks. Should I have it installed or not? Good Idea or Bad Idea?

Babyblue,
If ya gotta put on the hitch, ya gotta put on the hitch. I've seen 911's towing jet skis, so it won't be too much, if that's your quandry. Roof racks are a PITA for anyone less than 6'5", so that's out. Trunk rack, like you said, = scratches. That leaves the hitch. Unless you REALLY like to ride, and you can get there by bike. (Usually physically impossible. Where I ride, you need to take the interstate for about 45 miles.) Good luck!

Did you install your hitch yet? Can you share your thoughts and some pics of the hitch? Thanks

Unless you are riding a MONSTER DOWNHILL bike(s), 200 LBS is AT LEAST 6 of your average MTB's.

I don't see a problem weight wise.
