Default Did I Over Pay?!?!?

Hey guys I just bought a 2002 manual is300 to be my first drift car, it was already a drift car prior to me buying it...
modifications are welded diff, megan coil overs, Ebrake button, and two extra rims, it has 187,000 thousand miles but runs and shift smooth.
Now for the price I paid 2500 for it, which I think is fair, but my father is a car dealer and he won't stop talking crap to me saying he can't believe how much I paid....so what do you guys think?

Thanks

did you do a car fax on it to see if it had any accidents or any other incidents? how about maintenance history? do any homework on that? the price is actually really good, but being a drift car, there can be a butt load of issues w/ suspension, brakes, and all that. 187k miles is mild when it comes to the 2jz; that's one of Toyota's best motors...ever! but again, being a drift car, who knows how the owner treated the eng. so if it's a done deal, it's done, but go back and see if you can find any real history rather than "it runs and shifts smooth." it's easy to polish a turd, but in the end, it's still a turd. hopefully there aren't bad issues with it and you got a pretty good deal...if you don't care how the car looks.

Man, I'd be embarrassed to drive that thing as-is.

Considering manual swaps are selling for over $2k you got yourself a hell of a deal.

its defiantly not a looker lmao its only for drifting, I have a truck as my daily driver. But thanks for the input I didn't know a swap costs 2k, so I'm pretty happy with my purchase so far. The first event is on the 18th I will probably start another thread with the progress of the car

I didn't do any car fax or anything but the guy I bought it off of said that it was crashed into a fence before thats why there is the hole in the passenger door, and obviously spun out quite a few times do to being a drift car lol This guys was a lexus fanatic, he's had a few of theses cars and he showed me the nice one he has in his garage, according to him he took good care of it maintenance wise, Which the few times i got around to driving it so far the car seems to drive and handle really well. Yea I'm not to worried about the looks because I know I'm going to ding it up anyway I will let you guys know how it holds up. Do you guys have any tips as for regular maintenance I should perform to keep it up and running good?
Thanks again

The e-brake button is useless on the IS as we have drum in disc emergency brakes. A few hard yanks and they're done.

let me first apologize for not recognizing that it was bought as a drift car and not a daily driver...my bad. as far as maintenance, like i said, the motor is good. just do the standard oil checks and changes. but you'll want to keep an eye on the suspension to include control arms, ball joints, etc. look for cracks on all the rubber joints and bushings. other than that, have fun!

I wouldn't say you overpaid, she's just a little rough around the edges.

But you did find a 5 speed manual is300 so you definitely scored on that front!

Good deal since most is300s out there are automatic. And considering manual ones are expensive in general for these cars.

What does your dad think you should have paid for it? I just bought a mint 02, not a dent on it. 5 spd. With over 75 receipts on coils, exhaust, chip, clean title and had no problem paying 6 for it with right around the same mileage
