i saw an is250 2006 for sale from a dealer everything is great but there is one thing that was iffy and it was that it has the check 4wd light on and i wondering why it might have it on or how to fix and if it can be a problem to drive it like that

Did you point it out to the salesman? He/she should know the issue, they selling the car. Worst case ask for more discount or tell them lower price to pay for taking to dealer, if your not buying from lexus. I don't have a AWD so I wouldn't know on the top of my head.
