I haven't seen any trying to convert that hard but the most I've seen was 1 or 2 with the stop lights mounted in the trunk lid.
Some of those conversions don't look bad but they don't fit the rest of the car either. Honda to Lexus = FAIL

The interior of those and the ride quality has to suck.
Not to mention the engine and overall feel of the car...
You're right, might as well just get an IS to start with...
