Last update. Put the battery on a charger, got to 12.5v, then before doing load test at auto parts store, i wanted to pull codes. For the heck of it, i tried to start it, and it went to "ready", and eventually engine came on. Battery, with enginebrunning, was a steatdy 13.84 volts, then 12.5v when engine not running. Found the culprit. Still going to get it tested for bad cells.
Thanks everyone!

Sounds like it. Brand new fresh baterries are fully charged. One can drop it in and car will start. On hybrid, when 12V battery is in normal charged state
we can open the door with smart key or from touching the handle as usual. If unable to open the door thsi way then it is a sign battery is too depleted.
Also not lose settings we have to use temporary interim battery or trickle charger connected to the battery cable while it is being replaced. Good luck
when battery came up fully charged.
