Default Finally I removed headlight and killed condensation.

I'm perplexed by the condensation problem on my rx400h 2008 for 2 monthes. I searched the clublexus.com for countless times for the way to solve the problem. I booked a used headlight assembly on ebay, that is still on the way of shipment. I had been thinking of booking a labor to replace the headlight, but finally I decided to try DIY. Here's the procedure I did.

I used 10mm hexagon bolt driver and a small hexagon screw driver to remove all the bolts, including the bolts on wheel liner.

The reason to remove the bumper(only left side) is to reach the bolt that fixes the side of the assembly.

And to move the slide on the bumper upward, giving space for headlight to come out.

You may know 4 bolts on the headlight assembly. 1 side, 2 top, 1 behind the light, under the fuse box. That's easy. Use your hexagon driver, 10mm. Pull forward forcefully. But remember there're connectors behind the assembly! You will find several connectors to the assembly.

Now you have the whole headlight assembly off the car. You can use hair dryer to blow through high beam bulb hole, letting the hot air go out through low beam bulb hole. Of course you need to remove the cap covering low beam bulb. 10 mins, the condensation went out. hot air in.

hot air out. unplug the bulb first.

Most important! Check carefully the ballast. My ballast severely corroded by the water. It seemed immersed in the water for long time.

Fortunately, the inside is still okay.

But a lot of water found in this bottom plate. That' why the condensation remains for long time.

My lesson: do not splash water directly and forcefully on the headlight while washing the car.

Hello
Glad that you fixed the problem make sure you buy a sealant to reseal the headlight housing to make sure no more water goes inside you can buy the sealant at homedepo or autozone.

So my right headlight had water condensation and the ballast went bad. I ordered a new ballast and installed it. Its actually just hanging inside the engine because the screws on the ballast cover had rotted and I had to break the cover off. It seems like I will have to order a new headlight because the UV coating has failed on it also. I would just seal it all up with waterproof silicone.

I think your car could have been eligible under Lexus warranty to replace headlight assemblies if they show condensation.
Search this forum for details.

Coverage may have lapsed depending on when the OP's 2008 went into service.

We had both of ours replaced back in 2015 but they had to be exhibiting the condensation for the dealer to do the work.

Your link to Lexus spells it out. I had both of mine done in Feb. 2016 on my 2007 RX 400h two monthis before the end of the secondary warranty expiration (i.e., nine years after first use/sale). Thank you Lexus of Clearwater, Fl.!

What areas specifically do you seal to stop water from getting into the headlight?
