That's a good question. I don't know that if the actuator was faulty or if it failed to a point where it could degrade no more. I bought the car with 80K miles on it and the brake actuator always made that chirping sound while at a stop with the brake pedal moderately pressed. The sound would go away if you let up slightly (but then the hybrid motors are sending power to the wheels). We drove the car for 74K miles and 4.5 years with the bad actuator. Who know's how long it would continue or whether or not it would have degraded further.

Hi, I'm a newbee here. I am having problems with my ABS actuator, it's making the creaking sound when the car is stopped and I am stepping on the brakes. I have a RX400h 2007 with about 93K miles on it. I don't think I received a recall letter for the ABS actuator, can I bring the car to the dealership without the recall letter? Thanks.

You can call Lexus with your VIN to check, but your model should be covered.

Thanks for your reply joedaddy. I entered my VIN in the lexus web site but is says there's no outstanding recall on my car. I tried googling ABS Actuator recall for Lexus 400h and I'm not finding any.

It's not going to pop up on the recall page because it's a warranty extension.
I would just give them a call

Thanks again joedaddy.

My wife says she sees an intermittent warning in the dashboard but could not remember it, does anyone experience this?

We brought ours into the dealer they checked and said it was fine. Supposedly only a very small number of cars made have faulty actuators.

We had already gotten our headlights and dashboard replaced under similar recalls and extended warranty items. Was thinking we were going to get a new part like before. A little disappointed but happy they checked it and nothing was wrong nonetheless.

Thank you joedaddy1 for starting this thread. Last week my wife's 2008 GS 450h lit up all the ABS lights and displayed a "Brake Malfunction" message. Took it into Lexus, they confirmed that it's the dreaded ABS Actuator and they wanted a mere $3300 to fix it. After stalling over the weekend, I finally tracked down a copy of the original Toyota warranty enhancement letter (Warranty Enhancement ZG1, should you need to quote it to your stealership, I've attached a copy) ... the letter was originally for Toyota Highlander and Prius models, but also mentions lower in the letter that the following are covered: '06-'07 GS430, '07-'11 GS450h, '08-'11 GS460, '07-'12 LS460 and '06-'08 RX400h. Your car has to have thrown some specific codes in order to qualify, which thankfully mine had.

Hope this helps other's...

Arggghhhh, took mine in with bad chirping but no lights, they don't want to do it unless the lights are on the dash....I pushed, and they are going to contact Lexus. What dealerships did you guys use and get replacement without the lights being lit.?????
