Hello all, i wanted to do a quick intro..
We (wife & I) purchased a new to us 2006 Rx400h with 65kmiles. The timing belt was changed at 64k miles due to water pump leak and inverter was also changed at 62k miles. Interior is in really good/clean condition. Grey interior with the pearl green exterior. Exterior has some scratches and a ding on the rear driver door but nothing major. Tires were changed at 60k miles so they are brand new.
Bought it in VA and drove it to Indiana, the ride was really smooth compared to the E53 (01 x5 3.0) that she had. I wasn't very impressed with the mpg (averaged 24mpg going 60-70mph) She drives mostly highway and so far she's averaging 24mpg which is the same as the X5.
Disappointed that it doesn't have mp3 or aux input but i put the cassette adapter and does the job fine. I will look into the aux aftermarket at some point. The cig plug on the center console wasn't working, so i fixed it by putting a new 15A fuse.
Next step is to put a mesh in the lower grill to protect the ac condenser from rocks. I already got the mesh and spray painted it black and plan to install it this coming weekend.

Vaistech.com sells some very good interfaces for Lexus/Toyota that will give you iPod control. I bought the bluetooth one from them which adds bluetooth audio streaming...Excellent product and easy to install.

Thanks everyone for the response. Vaistech is definitely an option i am considering, i wish they sold the y splitter separately as i was really hoping for a usb set up ehich will charge the phone and play through it.

The Audiovox Media Bridge will charge and play music through the USB. I had that before the Vaistech. It worked well but not quite as user friendly as Vaistech. I ended up getting rid of it though because it turned out to be what was draining my car battery at night. Audiovox assured me that I just had a faulty unit, but I decided not to get a second Media Bridge. But if charging/music play is important to you, that would be a good option. Personally, I just did the bluetooth unit from Vaistech and charged my phone through the cigarette lighter when I needed to.

It had a tape deck even after many others abandoned them so you may need to adjust your expectations. There are plenty of aftermarket options out there even if you want both charge and playback. Just be very careful removing the bolts for the radio when you get around to it as it is very easy to lose them.

OP observation regarding highway MPG, Lexus/Toyota Hybrids get better City MPG than Highway
because of the regeneration when slowing and the stop/start function when driving slowly.
If you found the original window sticker it would have displayed 31 City/29 Combined/27 Highway
http://www.fueleconomy.gov has a converter that reflects the 2008 standards, 27 / 26 / 25.
The site goes on to report that "30 Drivers Like You..." averaged 24.6 MPG
because of the regeneration when slowing and the stop/start function when driving slowly.

That's about what I get with ours with highway driving. As for city driving, like any other hybrid or even non-hybrid how one drives has an impact. I tend to have a lead foot which doesn't help.

No install need and does the job. Just need to find a frequency that does not have interference. It has an USB port to keep your phone charged.
I use a magnetic mount on the vent to keep the phone visible.
