Is it a red flag if a '13 GSh now nearly 90K miles, and the only service it was ever done at a Lexus dealer (according to Lexus Driver) was at 5,000 miles. The rest were at Valvoline and Jiffy Lube (as much as I can see on carfax).

What kind of a "steal" would it be to make sense to buy such vehicle. Or just leave it all at once!?

Not necessarily a red flag - people choose to get service done at other places besides the dealership (or should I say "stealership"). Most services at the dealership are very overpriced since they charge a ridiculous amount for labor. I personally only go there for specialized work, not routine things.

I'm curious why the original owner didn't get the 10K service done at the dealership though, since that's complimentary.

Anyway, I would personally wait for a better deal (or if you really like that vehicle, talk them down to the absolutely minimum) or continue to search for a better vehicle (with lower mileage). I would opt for the second option, since I would rather have a used car with lower mileage.. you'll know exactly what issues that car has/had along the way. Generally Lexus' are built absolutely solid, especially this GS hybrid, but you never know what will come up.

Hope this helps somewhat. I know it sucks to wait for the perfect vehicle, but I would recommend this in your case.

Latest update here:

Sad that the used/cpo GS450h is so limited. Hope to get it 3-4 years down the road when we need another vehicle.

Beautiful car! Congrats The mpg numbers on the ESh are amazing. It's a very nice & comfortable car. I was thinking about getting one for my parents in the future (would be a great update from the Camry hybrid for them).

Sad that you couldn't find an appropriate GSh, but that's the pain of trying to acquire a limited production vehicle. Glad that you stuck with the Lexus brand though.

Enjoy and hope my posts/PMs helped guide you somewhat. Thanks for passing along the quick update for us all.

We own a Prius and RX450h currently, and I must say Lexus did the ESh so well, a perfect medium between the Prius and RXh in term of economy and power.

What gen does your parent's Camry hybrid?

Funny, a week after we bought ESh, the GSh posts increase from 21 to 31 across the nation. Some even within 200 miles from us. Ugh. But I'm still happy with our ESh.

I believe it's a 2008 Camry Hybrid. It's been a great car for them. It gets in the upper 30's in terms of average mpgs.

The ESh is in a different class of vehicles though, so it would be a nice upgrade. It's a great daily commuter. There is plenty of usable power before the rpm's climb. My parents don't need a speed demon anyway!

Anyway, it's good that you have experience with hybrids and I hope you enjoy the new car! All the best.

I'm surprised why Lexus won't sell the GS300h or IS300h in North America. The GS300h has the same drivetrain as the Camry hybrid and ES300h, so it should give similarly high mileage numbers while still having sporty handling. The GS450h is a great car but it's a lot of money brand new.

I think the reason for not having GS300h or IS300h in the U.S because the 2.5L hybrid powertrain IMO doesn't have enough power. As the owner of ES300h for 8 months, I feel it provides adequate power, but no way sporty. At times, I felt it kinda under-powered and unrefined especially after driving my parents much bigger RX450h. I feel like the 3.5L hybrid drivetrain on the GS450h and RX450h are much more refined, excellent acceleration and smoothness.
