New 2011 RX450h Owner
We just bought our 2011 RX 450h used, very happy and excited with it!
It was a lease return with only 35,xxx miles, not CPO, but the vehicle in great shape!
We drove from Tampa to Dallas over the weekend, doing around 75-80 MPH, averaging 24.7 MPG, not as great as we thought but we're probably heavy on the foot and wanted to get home FAST!
Any tips from 4th gen 350/450h owners would be greatly appreciated!!
*What MPG do you normally get?
*Fuel type 89/91/93?
*Problems with this 450 gen?
*Hidden features?
Thanks!

No, I don't play soccer!
Congrats myLexus007. I've moved your thread over to the hybrid forum where you'll find answers to many of your questions. I'd suggest to start with the 450h mileage thread on top. And search within the forum for better results.

My 450h will be six years old in January and currently has about 40,400 miles on the odometer. Only issue so far has been a remote start problem fixed by ECU replacement. And I'm still on on the original battery. I use only Shell premium fuel and am currently averaging 26 MPG. My short commute involves hills and winter driving with a few months of eco mode off. So you may want to see what other members closer to your area are getting.

I only have 1300 miles on our 2015 but I just took recent 200 mile trip at 70-72 MPH and we were showing 27.5 MPG. The faster you go and wind drag will reduce fuel efficiency.
You can click on my "Fuelly" link in my signature for details of the 4 fill ups so far. So far averaging 28.3 MPG.
We seem do best, around 30-31 MPG, with 12 mile trips in local 45-50 MPH speed limit zones.

FLYCT, did you get a good deal on your 2015 450h?
We wanted to get at least a CPO 2013 450h model but the price was still too high. Seems like getting a brand new 2015 is a better value than CPO 2013/2014.
But we didn't want to spend too much on the new 2015 since 2016 redesign is around in a few months.
Did you ever consider the 2016? Or the controversial design was way too much?

I traded in 2 vehicles on the RXh, a 2012 CT200h and a 2014 F150 4WD Lariat and that's where I did well. They paid top dollar for those vehicles. The trades valued at $59k so that eliminated all sales tax.
I tend to turn over my cars often. In fact the RXh is my 3rd new car purchase in 12 months and my 50th car purchase my 50 years of driving. It wouldn't surprise me if I end up with a 2016 in the next 12 months.
My wife says I enjoy the challenge.
I really enjoy the RXh.

As of my last fill I have 23377 miles on my 2013 and have averaged 28.3 mpg overall.
I have my ECO mode turned on and just leave it that way.
As far as your trip is concerned, I will defer to the people in the areas you will be driving through. Don't know if you might be hitting any mountain areas where chains would be required if there is snow.
Enjoy your RX.

ECO comes in two forms, let's call them Active and Passive. If you "act" to press the menu button on the
right side steering wheel spoke by the up/down/enter toggle and actively turn on the ECO setting the RXh
will "act" different. Throttle response, cruise control reactions and A/C performance will all contribute to
using less fuel.
While you are flipping through the menu choices you will encounter Sport Mode. Your hybrid normally
creates 500v DC from its 288v battery but when Sport is selected it bumps up to 650v! Greater torque
and quicker acceleration. Various blogs claim that you can actually improve MPG by using Sport and a
light foot which lets the MG2 provide even greater assistance to the IC.
The glowing green indicator is Passive, it doesn't change anything but serves to influence the driver
into using the throttle less.

I don't think 2010-2012 450h have ECO/NORMAL/POWER mode? Only 2013-2015.
Now that we use it at home for a week, getting about 27.2 MPG, temp 80-90F on 70/30 hwy/city.
Here in north Texas, 93 octane is about 45c higher than 89, and 89 octane is about 35c higher than 87, so I hate filling up 93 unnecessary. But again, if it is "required", i will do that.

You can drive in ECO mode in the ECO range, ECO mode in the POWER range, Non-ECO mode in the ECO range, or non-ECO mode in the POWER range. A bit confusing...

Only has ECO mode on / off mode. Not to be confused with the light that comes on when driving in the ECO range on the power meter.

Where is the button?

mylexus007 is correct, not on the OP's RX450h.
kitlz is correct, press the "menu" button first then toggle to
select then enter to change
