Default Tanabe touring Medallion installed (in car video)

Installed Tanabe touring medallion on my GS450h. Exhaust creates a deep rumbling tone from the moment the engine turns on. It is louder than the stock exhaust system especially at the lower Kw band. UPDATE:After a short break in period the exhaust has become a little quieter than when new.

Overall very happy and here are some pics!

What came in the box.

Lol no love on this post...but 6 month update! The exhaust is even quieter now vs when new. Some cruising and acceleration in the vid.

Final impressions: I would do it again! It has been a subtle upgrade to sound while still not destroying the quietness of a hybrid. I bet if I add a mid-pipe it would be louder.

Still liking it? The Tanabe Touring Medallion seems to be the only option that I've found online but it's definitely on the quiet side.

Yes I still love the exhaust. It is definitely on the quiet side of aftermarket exhausts. I think if it were paired with a mid-pipe it would still be considered on the quiet side. It does provide a nice grumble though.

In both videos car was driven in "D" mode. I was letting off on the gas as it was switching to stage 2, which happens around 60-65 mph. I am guessing this is what you were hearing.

hows the sound when shifting yourself? when i was fixing up my h, i was tinkering with the idea of an exhaust but thought the cvt might cause an exhaust drone

Love the sound and clean look. This will be my exhaust upgrade after wheels. Wheels ordered just waiting to come in.

Honestly, it sounds good but kind of pointless to shift up. Keeping the car in D or 5 to accelerate produces the best sound and acceleration. However, popping downshifts sounds sweet. I saw a lexus press video on the GS450h that explained the "gears" were more for levels of engine braking rather than simulating gears. There isn't much drone on the freeway as the car just cruises quietly off power. I just wanted a more aggressive tone from the engine when under power.

Hey RL, did you notice any performance upgrade from the exhaust? I know we're in Hybrids, but did it add some fun? hahaha

Easily an extra 50whp. Kidding. I am not sure if it has added any power or torque, but the sound makes the car more pleasurable to push around. So in my opinion, it is more fun to drive with exhaust. I especially like hearing the engine turn on after crawling away on electric power.
