Greatest burst of acceleration/power? What speed range makes you grin the most?
Hi all,
I know the GS450h isn't mean to be a speed demon, but I wanted to ask the question that if you wanted to put a smile on your wife/gf or friend's face (and they never sat in your car before), at what speed is the 4G (2013+) GS450h's acceleration most impressive?
The 0-60 time is quite amazing for a car of this size (it can do it under 6 seconds in a real word scenario). The instant torque is definitely one thing fun to experience, but how does a 0-60 run compare to let's say a 55/60 to 80/85 run? Is the car more impressive at a higher/lower speeds that what I have suggested? That's really what I want to ask - what speed "band" does it really produce a ton of power that will make your passengers scream?
To put in another way (for those that are confused).. if you only had one chance to show off the power of the car, would you do a 0-60 run or would you do a run at higher speeds? I've read a lot of reviews and watched many videos on the car.. most of them say that the top end if where the GS450h really shines and stays within the power band, hence the topic. I haven't been able to come across any dynos on this car either.
I would prefer to hear from actual owners of the vehicle that have driven the car extensively at various speeds.
Thanks in advance all,

Thank you for your responses fellas! These are exactly the types of responses that I was hoping for. Would love to hear from more owners on what speed range they think that their GS450h car shines the most/is most impressive.

I would agree. If I'm going 60, and need to go 80, it's amazingly quick, and smooth. Try it in Sport S+ which ups the traction motor drive voltage to 650V.
Before I bought my GSh, I drove the Tesla. Although the Tesla is all-electric and rated at higher peak HP, there is a very similar feel to both 0-60 and passing acceleration. If you compare acquisition cost, the GSh begins to look like a bargain.

i have to agree. But I also like to see the shock on the faces of people who get in my car and expect Prius type performance. Just punch it one time getting onto the highway. It is an instant WTF. moment. I have had several passengers ask me what type of mods I have done to make a hybrid get down the road like this one does. I just laugh. Absolutely love this car. Came out of a '10 hybrid. Loved that one as well. But this one, whew!

My experiences have been similar. My best friend was visiting me last summer and was in my car for the first time. We had been running errands in city traffic and it being a hybrid he noticed the display says we are averaging about 31 mpg. I usually drive in ECO mode and we were getting ready to head down an entrance ramp to get on the interstate. I told him this is really two cars in one and turned the **** to Sport+. Fortunately there was little traffic so I was able to let her rip. He exclaims "Holy %#**". "This things a beast!" We were doing 0 to 90 in short order. That made me grin from ear to ear.

Being from the flatlands of Florida, the most fun is getting on the interstate. Switch to S+ mode, take the turn onto the interstate and then punch it to merge. It's even more fun when you are behind another sports car and you just blow past them.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. While most didn't specify a speed range, I'll probably try out a burst between 50-80/85 and see how my passengers take it.
Appreciate all the responses,
