Default Advise please (2008 400h)

I am shopping for an rx400h. I have found a very nice 2008 rx400h. Florida car which is 4 wheel drive and optioned out as far as it goes, The car has 88K miles and has been dealer maintained w/records and a clean Car Fax. My concern is ....at 88K is there plenty of life left on those battery packs or am I looking at trouble. [sorry I don't know much about the 400h other than , I like the concept] the car is being sold by a Lexus dealer. [same dealer that sold it and serviced it]

Welcome to Club Lexus, ghost1.

While we are waiting for the moderators to move this thread over to the hybrid section...

The battery packs are probably good for quite some time to come. You will want to check the service records to see if it has had the timing belt changed and all recall and other services up-to-date.

I bought a Certified Used 2008 400H when it had 42,000 miles about 3 years ago. I now have 74,000 and the vehicle is as quiet and smooth as it was when I got it. I did have a hybrid battery fail, and the dealer had never replaced one on any hybrid before, or since as far as I know. It was a fluke and happens rarely. We love the car, or SUV or whatever you want to call it. I expect in the next couple of years we will upgrade to a newer one, and yes it will be another hybrid.

I bought a 2008 RX400h with 87k miles on it. Car is a definite step up from RX300. I have had to replace left front wheel bearing. Also did the timing belt, waterpump at 100k miles. I now have 143k miles and the car is great. Do need to change the spark plugs and possibly the rear shocks and mounts. Just normal stuff other than wheel bearing. Good luck.

Go with it. (Japanese) cars don't die at 100k like domestic/german ones. Lexus is just broken in at 100k. I have 220k on my 2001 RX300. Bought a 2008 RX400h w 95k miles and is going strong at 120k miles (daily driver). negotiate about 1000-1500 down from the dealer ask price to factor in timing belt/water pump/brakes/spark plugs service at 90k

Glad to read your post. Just bought a 2008 rx400h with 95000 miles. Timing belt had been changed already and recall inverter was done. I hope to have same results with mine.

I'm still looking and I have found a 2006 rx400h with 43K miles. Dealer Certified. Anything I should be aware of on the 2006?

Try to get a 07+ for newer generation navigation which looks better. Check for leaks on the inverter, cracks on the radiator, and test drive it to see if the wheel bearings are bad.
