Any 12 volt battery problems with GSh?
I see in another thread that the GS's are having some 12 volt battery problems. Are any of you GSh owners having this problem?
Looking at my service record on Lexus Drivers, I see my cars first entry was on 8/14/2012 with 7 miles. The entries for "Inspect battery charge level" were: 7/10/1013 at 50 miles, 9/6/13 at 52 miles, 9/12/13 at 52 miles, 10/29/2013 at 59 miles, 1/7/14 at 59 miles. I bought the car on 1/10/2014 with 112 miles.
It appears that my car sat on the lot for almost a year and a half with some battery drainage probably from playing whit the accessories but very little driving.
My battery is the Panasonic with 450 amps which seems to be the same one in the GS. Does the GSh use a different more efficient way to keep the battery charged such as using the mail battery or is the volume of the GSh just too low to make any judgement calls.
Ideas?

12 volt battery issue lexus GS 450h
I'm about to have the 12 volt battery replaced in my 2008 with 27 K miles on it for the 3rd time by my local Lexus dealership!Counting the original battery, which lasted almost 5 yrs, this will be the 4th Battery.
I am so frustrated with this problem I could scream! I can't help but think that there is some sort of problem, that the Dealership is failing to diagnose which has caused the next two batteries, to fail, in approx 1 yr & 18 months. Both required multiple jump starts prior to replacement.

Hi There
Yes I had to replace the engine/auxillary battery on my GS450h but it did last 7 years & 140,000 kms
New one was £255 GBP's and fitted it myself
Also had to replace the batteries for the electric motors on my GS as well as these werent holding the charge at a cost of £5000 gbp's - Can only be purchased/traded in through Lexus themselves - Hand to bend over big time for that one

I just had my first 12V battery problem my 2007 GS450H car would not start then with it a jump it started and the mechanic said the volts were very low so after purchasing a new battery in 2008 it's time for a new battery but when I put the part # for the battery it comes up with a price of $330+ does anyone have a part number for a more sensible priced battery? Please I need help I don't want to spend $400 on a battery.

You'll probably get more detailed help there.
The subforum you have currently posted in is for the 4th generation (2013+) GSh.
Hope this helps,

Let’s take a beat here and consider two things. First is that Toyota has increased the warranty on their 2020 hybrid battery systems to 10 years and 150k miles, for what is essentially the exact same technology they’ve been using now for years. Second, manufacturers set warranty limits at points that they believe will be met by at least 99% (or more) of the cars they sell. Since no component in a car fails at exactly the moment in time when the warranty limit is reached this means that for these 99%+ cars many of them will exceed those limits. Perhaps 75% of the cars will make it to 200k miles; 50% to 250k and 25% all the way to 300k. In fact, many uber drivers using their Prius cars have reported that their cars are still going strong at 275k+ miles.
Are they expensive to replace?....you bet. And I agree that replacing individual cells is a fool’s gambit; do the whole pack when it’s needed and start fresh again. I’m not certain about these aftermarket companies and their replacement packs.....more time is needed to see what reliability and longevity they achieve. My point is that these devices aren’t suddenly going to ‘pop’ within 10k miles of their warranty limit, which is anyway now 150k miles and ten years, a number that most likely has been increased owing to field data amassed by Toyota for the millions of these cars that have/are roaming the streets and still on their original packs.
Consider also that Toyota’s ancillary components and software are programmed to never charge the pack beyond 80% of its capacity nor let it fall below 40%. These limits are well known to squeeze maximum life out of this (now) ancient but very well proven NiMH battery technology. A well maintained Toyota hybrid with regular maintenance at 100k miles should not be something to hide from, just because its own battery warranty has reached its limit; limits that were established before even Toyota knew just how good their own product would be. Use it as bargaining leverage to get a great deal on a great car!

I just recently had my 3 year-old original 450 CCA rated 12 volt starter battery load tested. The car had not been driven since April, 2020 (and thus the 12 volt starter battery had not been receiving a charge) except for me driving the car a few hundred miles in the past week or so. The results measured a healthy 422 CCA at 12.63 volts.

My original 12v battery latest 7 years since the car was built and 97k miles. No warning just one day the car didn't start and battery was totally dead. I replaced it with a larger battery that required modifying the battery tray, but gave more options that the Lexus one.

Finally happend
12v battery finally quite
2013 with 112,000km(69,600miles)
Owned it for a year and a month, drove often except the last 2 months its been sitting, minus the short weekly store rip.
Must have been the cold snap and infrequent driving, but she didn't start on Christmas day lol
Club Lexus has been a treasure trove of info, shout out to all of you. in particular @Im2bz2p345 in this thread

doing all the leg work for info
Game plan is to call Lexus tomorrow(closed today) see if they have records of the 12v being replaced under previous ownership and if so, is it under warranty -long shot lol- + get a quote for the OEM Panasonic, and il install it myself.
If shipping is gonna take long, might settle for the Optima Yellowtop SC35DA D35 AGM deep cycle battery for $325CAD which i can pick up immediately as I'm going to need the vehicle a lot in the early new year.
hope yal had a great Christmas and wishing an abundant new year
