Default Any regrets buying a 2010 RX 450h specifically?

Hello,

This is specific to 2010 RX 450h. Has anyone had any regrets buying a used one? If there were regrets, what were they? Would you have waited for something better? I have a chance to buy a 2010, but have a bit of hesitation since 2010 was the first year of this new model.

Thanks!

love mine.. got it 2.5 months ago! It is a CPO RX 450h 2010 from Lexus of Pleasanton,CA. It was in amazing condition. I did notice in the paperwork that the rear shocks were replaced due to them leaking. It is apparently a known issue and was caught during the CPO inspection.. One cool thing was that the previous owner only had it serviced at that dealership. So every service was listed. The only thing I wish it had was the power folding mirrors. The morning after I brought it home I found the drivers side mirror knocked froward; with lovely white paint transferred to my black car :-( I am in the process of getting all the parts to install the feature myself. I'm a geek like that.

I just bought a 2010 450H AWD, it's a CPO from Lexus Seattle.

There is no problem, only interior detail is not done very well.

I did interior detail again, it's shine and drive like charm.

Just past 4 yrs in service (last 10 months with me), no failures, no regrets. It's not perfect, but I would not take my choice back if I could.

I'm not afraid of 1st year models when it comes to Toyota vehicles in general. Both my previous vehicles were early 1st year machines (04 Sienna and 07 Hybrid Camry) and both were virtually problem free, and why I had no issues moving into the Lexus line. I still have the Sienna, after 10 years it's still 99.99% problem free).

Had a 2006 RX4 which was a first gen for the hybrid models.

No regrets buying a 2010 RX450h. I bought it with 50,000 with no fear of anything going wrong. I cross shopped with the Audi Q5 and the Lexus proved to be more reliable. I did replace the rear shock but that was it.

My 2010h was one of the very first produced, May of 2009 and the 1st one in the Atlanta market (it was hot-shipped for me from the port). I've got 54K on him now and considering all the technology that's in him, he's been the most trouble free car I've owned. At less than 12k they did replace the w/s with OEM glass and it's been no problem at all. Other than that, just routine maintenance.

If one you're looking at has all the records and they look good, you should be good to go.

FWIW, my fuel mileage graph goes back over 2 years at slightly over 30mpg. It would be more but my frequent short trips nag it down.

Moved over to the 3RX hybrid forum.

All three of my RXs were first model year including the very first back in 1998. I can count on my one hand the number of problems I've had in 15 years of ownership. And they were all covered under warranty. Specifically on the 450h, only the rear tailgate emblem was replaced. That's it. I wouldn't let the fact that 2010 is the first model year hold you back as long as everything else checks out. With routine maintenance, these vehicles can last. Good luck whatever you decide.

Thanks for all the feedback, It has helped a lot! The only thing wrong with the vehicle is a claim for $1100 because of an accident related to the driver front side corner. I'm guessing 50% of that was labor and the rest is minor repairs like paint.

My collegue hit a Lexus sedan, he said there is no major damage on Lexus, only visible paint damage and rear bumper holes, and cost him (insurance company) over $5000 to do the parts and paint.

so I guess that $1100 repair on Lexus would be very minor issue.

Like Sears said $1100 is barely a mention. Could have even been a complete headlight assembly or something like that.

So someone bought the original one I was looking at listed for 39,995.... Good news is that another dealership listed a 450h last night. Finalized deal this morning! They said it was the ultra premium 2 edition so all options. 43,000 km for a price of 46k after tax. Navi, mark levison, HUD. Folding side mirrors, etc. The people that owned the vehicle bought all the accessories too lol. The only option not on the RX is the side moldings! Black with tan interior. Pick up next week. CPO. Im so damn happy! Pics to come when I get it.

Fantastic deal! I just picked up a low miles (4700mi) used 2013 450h for a great price too. $44K pre-tax. No Mark Levison, but otherwise fully loaded. Just drove it home Wed!

Congrats!!
