100k+ miles @ $18k vs. 60K miles @ $24k
Sill lurking and looking at the GS as my next car, as I have mentioned before , based on this forum it really feel like these cars are solid without many issues in reality.
Looking at cars for sale there looks to be some very good 2007 100k+ mile cars around from $16,000, from the photo’s they look very clean and don’t seem to suffer from visual wear on the Interiors. Then for the same year cars with 60k miles the same cars are around the $24,000 mark.
I’m not really scared of high mile cars and 100k isn’t that high, good buy or not?, this would be my general DD car, I’m erring towards getting a higher mileage car, right or wrong??

I would personally go for the 60k one. I bought an '08 w/65k for 25,000. You get 8yrs/100k hybrid warranty and that provides peace of mind. Replacing the battery is VERY costly. Just my 2 cents.

Can you elaborate on this?, whilst in researching I have seen a few battery replacement's, I haven’t read any nightmare stories regarding GS's, or mileage related issues. On the contrary it is hard to find owners of GS's that have either had issues or complaining.
I currently have a 173k Audi A6, and those forums and owners stories are a nightmare compared to the GS. Whilst I would prefer a lower mileage car, what really are the risks of owning a 100k mile vehicle outside of the fact the battery warranty is out?

dont buy a GS thats even close to 100k?!? LOL. who told u that?? Lexus/Toyota car mostly known to be built like a tank. bought my car @ 109k and its close to 150k right now. only replaced alternator around 120k, which need to be replaced anyway. the car been nothing but smooth. mine is gs430.
op, imho... the only important thing is the maintanance/past history of the car. mine was maintained in lexus dealer since day 1. miles are just numbers.

Hello, I don't get it. if the car with 100K miles is $8K cheaper, then the principal risk which is to have to change the battery, is covered by the purchase price difference... as a worst case, because I have the understanding that even way over the maximum years/miles there is still a good chance that lexus will pick up the bill. Is this right? I'm living in france and facing myself the dilemma of whether to buy a high mileage gs450h.

Here in france, a 2008 gs450h with 157K kilometers (so almost 100K miles) is going for 16.5K euros right now, from a Lexus dealer, with 1 year warranty included. Here in france, there is no 8 year/100K mile warranty. Just a 5 year 100K kilometer warranty on the hybrid system, and a 3 year on the rest. I haven't seen specifically a 2008 with 65K miles, so about 104 K km, but from what I see out there, it would go for about 22K euros in same conditions (Lexus dealer with 1 year warranty).
