radiator leak 2006 400h
my radiator has a small leak on the right side, it has never overheated the temp gauge has always read normal, however it was low on fluid at the last oil change the dealer did yesterday.
the dealer says they cannot repair the plastic and metal radiator and want 1200 to replace it. i have not gone to a radiator shop yet, has anyone had these radiators repaired? thanks, dave , i am at 92,000 miles at this time.

Had the same issue on our 2006 400h... got the radiator replaced, $500 at the radiator shop.. i gave them couple bottles of toyota super long life coolant to make sure they are using the correct fluid..
the mechanic told me that he works on rx's with cracked radiators often.

. Were there any marking on the OEM that indicated who made it?

thats ridiculously good value.
i wouldnt be surprised if it was the oem-private label version of what the dealer sells.

I just had my trusted mechanic change the timing belt and he spotted a 12" crack in the upper passenger side of the radiator. He only charged $200 in labor for the timing belt/water pump/tensioners/oil change, so I'm guessing I'm looking at $100 in labor and $40 in coolant. I'm just deciding between a Koyo or Denso radiator.

We had the same issue with out 2006 Lexus RX400h with 86k miles on it. Lucky it happened at the dealer when they changed the oil and it was replaced under our CPO warranty. I don't remember it being $1200 cost...more like $500-600.

Any Reputable Service Center In Houston?
Hi All,
Find this forum post very pertinent to me, since dealing with radiator leak at 91000 miles. Was told to have 950-1000$ expense, mostly radiator itself costing ~600$ at Lexus Dealership.
I would prefer less expensive but reputable center (national franchise stores or local).

Radiator replacement
Took my 2006 400h to the lexus dealership today for regular maintenance and was told that I need to replace a leaking radiator and water pump, 2 motor cooling fans and the timing belt (i'm at 91k miles). Dealership wants a astronomical amount for repairs. Found a lexus specific mechanic in town and he quoted me $1,844 total for the job. Sounds fair to me compared to what the dealership wants to charge, just wanted to get someone else's thoughts. Thanks.

Timing belt and waterpump should not cost more than $700 and the radiator itself is available for under $100. As for cooling fans Not sure. Check out RockAuto.com and see if they have parts (fans) and then take everything to your favorite mechanic.Just looked on Rock Auto and fans are around $100 and some change.
