Default About to buy a RX450h, questions and comments?

If all goes well, we will be trading out beloved Prius for a RX450h. We are looking at 2011 fwd. Is there anything specific I should be looking for? Also will I lose much going to the FWD over the AWD minus the traction? While I do live on the snow belt, I do plan to buy snow tires to eliminate any worries. The car is about 1.7 years old, it has 37K miles on it. What should I be looking out for? Is it worth the $2K to get the extended warranty?

Also with the price i paid, I can probably squeeze a 2010 awd with the certified warranty for about $1K more. Do you think that is worth it?

thx

Please tell us what options package(s) you have and how much are you paying for it. For 37k miles then you would need to have new tires/brakes and the 30k or 45k service done....also it only has 11k left on basic warranty so I think spending $1k to have it certified is a good move.

Good luck.

a shade over 35K. I can do my own brakes. it has a set of brand new OEM bridgestone tires. the certified type warranty runs about 2k. it just has the premium package, parking sensors, cold package, nav, the usual stuff, nothing special

Being a hybrid it should not need brakes. A set of brakes on a 450h should go over 100,000 miles since the motors do most of the "normal" the braking.

I think it is a good price at $35k ish for 37k miles 2011 RX450h. Most local dealers here ask in the $45k+ for them (AWD model though but still).

Good luck.

Here is the scoop. I picked up the car today. 2011 with 37K miles. Car is FWD with the premium package and parking sensor, nothing fancy. I have only driven about 40 miles so far. Here are some comments I have and questions, hope you guys dont mind helping out.

Questions
#1 The engine seems to idle a bit rough when it does cold starts to warm up. Compare to the Prius, there seems to be way more vibration. I am curious to see if the dealer used oil outside of 0W20. I am seriously thinking about taking the loss and just put some fresh 0w20 in there for now.
#2 How do I know if I have the auto high beam? Just curious
#3 I am trying to personalize my key so my seat would get to the right place when I get in, but I cant seem to get it to program properly. I did my best to plow through the 800 pages in the owners' manual, but I must have missed it
#4 I believe my driver's side door sensor is broken as car doesn't know my drivers side door is open.
#5 I averaged about indicated 28mpg in 75% 40-50mph drive.
#6 My seat seems to make a little clunking noise as it slides back on exit. Common issue?
#7 What is the difference between full driver exit extraction vs partial?

Sorry for the dumb questions, very excited about the car and very sleepy.

If you have NAVI and HID then you have auto high beam and auto turn head light. Turn your headlight to AUTO then push the stalk forward so when your headlights are on you will see the word AUTO next to the light icons.

I never tried the item #3 so can't help, don't know item #6 neither

Item #4 should be addressed to Lexus dealer

Item #5 is about right

Item #7: partial will slight your seat back partially while full move it back fully.

Good luck.

I definitely don't have the auto high beam, was it a stand alone option? I do have NAV, comfort pkg and HID.

Stupid door sensor is working again, I was hoping to have it replaced.

The squeeking I have been getting is due to a broke plastic trim on top of the one of the rails.

I put another 100 miles on it, works great except the roads here still suck. At mostly highway, we got about 25-26mpg at 75mph
