2006 RX400h- white powder blowing EVERYWHERE!
I just spoke to Lexus about the TSB on the Evaporator Core needing to be replaced because of the white powder is the blowing everywhere inside my black interior RX (NIGHTMARE!!). It's driving me CRAZY! Plus, breathing in this aluminum hydroxide kind of scares me too. HOWEVER, Lexus informed me that my car is no longer under warranty and that it will cost over $1200 to fix and it will take the entire day to do it and they can not guarantee that all the interior trim and panels will go back together perfectly without gaps and such.... anyone have this job done and pay out of pocket? any advise?

I had an out-of-warranty transmission pump failure that Lexus picked up most of the tab. You never know, worth asking if you're close to the warranty period from a mileage standpoint at least.

This 60,000 mile vehicle is out of warranty but Lexus has agreed to pick up the tab in fixing the problem. I'm thinking at some point Lexus will actually have a recall on this problem because according to the safety data sheet on aluminum hydroxide, it is pretty bad stuff to breath and have on your skin. I'm really happy Lexus is doing this for me. Hopefully the car is fixed and put back together without any issues, as I have heard some horror stories about interiors being scuffed and scratched up pretty bad. :-/
Glad to hear Lexus helped you out with the trasmission pump.

I just had this done on my 2008 RX400h under warranty. Other than my satellite radio not working, the dash looks in good shape with no rattles. Hopefully yours will go back together fine.
I've got an appointment on Friday to get the radio checked. I'm guessing a connector didn't get seated right or something. As far as I can tell, everything else works great.
Good Luck,
Jeff
