yeah I would not do that. Not only is it unsafe but it could do some damage to the transmission. Also your rear reverse lights would come on and that is just a safety issue for everyone.

I don't want to be the person to try this, but since there is no mechanical connection between the shift lever and the transmission in the 450h I would hope that they have a software check to see if it is stopped before the computer tries to engage reverse.

I agree, but it must send some sort of error code and it will probably be stored. In a modern auto, there is no real mechanical linkage so it still wouldnt put the transmission in Reverse. Mythbusters did a segment on this. They did one where they slammed it in R and another put it in P. All it did was turn on the check engine light.

I'm sure one of these fine days someone will post on here they tried it. What do think the post will say re: consequences ???
Ya know if something bad does happen and he call's the dealer for a tow they'll plug into the cars computer when it gets to the shop and see "whoa, reverse at 50mph???" That will fry the warranty
I'm willing to bet that even if nothing bad appears to happen, the computer will still show what was done if anyone ever decides to read it.

It works!
I have indeed viewed the rear camera while coasting at 60+ mph by putting my 2010 R450h in reverse. There are no bells or warnings or terrible noises, the rear camera just comes on. I recently bought a hitch cargo carrier (which is not visible by any of the mirrors) and I use the reverse/camera feature every 50 miles to ensure that my cargo remains securely tied down. I suppose the back-up lights do come on but I'm sure no one would notice or care. Perhaps Lexus should advertise this as a safety feature.

A little off-topic. I was sitting in a dark parking lot and Chevy truck pulls in, parks and the folks get out and the back-up lights are still on. I'm thinking they got out of the truck with it running and in reverse. No, the back-up lights stayed on until the headlights went off a minute or so later. A convenience feature. I suppose vehicles have been doing this for years and I just noticed.

Our intro period for Sirius/XM radio is about to expire, or already did. Did not find any stations that we liked, so we are not subscribing to the service. One feature that we thought might be worth keeping was the traffic / weather system.
Has anyone found value in subscribing to these? do they regret it, or glad they did?

The weather could be handy if you're traveling but the traffic for me is on all the time. Show's when the major roads are tied up and to what degree. Didn't cost that much so ....

Weather is a joke. I'd sooner check it on my iPhone. I kept traffic for $12/quarter. Around here I need all the help I can get with all of the congestion.

Was not worth it for me for I don't live and rarely travel in congested traffic areas. Got to love living in rural area.
Also to me the Sat radio stations didn't sound as good on the sound system as the non-Sat stations for some reason. Has anyone else felt this????
