I don't see why the dealer can't just give it to you and deal with the recall when the parts come in sometime in 2012.
Everyone else that owns a 400h that is affected by this recall is driving around and Lexus isn't concerned enough to have the vehicle pulled off the road ASAP.

I'm sure you can ask to get the dealer to fix the recall issue prior to delivery of the RX of your choice.

Lexus RX 400h transmission problems
I took my car to the Lexus dealership nearly 2 weeks ago after it had issues with the hybrid system...
I was backing out of a parking spot and when I put the car in drive it continued rolling back though my foot was on the gas. The error message read, "Check hybrid system". It did this every time I went from reverse to drive.
I was told that the hybrid system was leaking onto the transmission leading to a necessary transmission replacement. It is a 2006 with 71k miles on it-- was not expecting to be replacing a transmission! I was told it would be $7,000 to fix but they would work with me on that since it was so close to the Powertrain Warranty. What it has come to is that Lexus will cover $5,000 and I have to cover the remainder which will more than likely be more than $2,000 after all the other charges they can find.
My question is-- is this "hybrid fluid" that is leaking on the transmission have anything to do with the inverter? I apologize for my lack of knowledge in the area but trying to learn so I can present my case and have Lexus cover this problem under the recall. Any help or suggestions as to what to do would be greatly appreciated!

I had my tranny replaced under extended warranty because it was leaking coolant. The electric motors are cooled by the same fluid that cools the inverter. Check my posts under user name 'lemon' at lexusownersclub.com. I'd post more but am on mobile phone right now

I was told Jan 2012! Ugh. I asked Toyota what they could do for me since I cannot tow my boat for 4 months. All they said is I was put on a priority list at my dealer. Thats all they could do. I am very disappointed.

Not good news about the inverter from Lexus
Lexus responded to the recall and repair of the inverter in the 2006 rx400h would be around the first of the year. (2012) That really "stinks" . Meantime I drive my 400H with 105k miles like nothing can go wrong. Ha! Do you think I was born yesterday? When the new models come out, I can just hear how the trade-in value has fallen because they know it has a defective inverter. Speaking the the new 450H for 2012, have they improved the navigation, tire wear problems, back up camera, (see the ones with guidance lines as you back up) gas milage, bumpers, etc. Are they forcing on us the stupid 19" rims and tires? Do they still want to charge us $250 to play a dvd with the maps upgrade in our vehicle? I really like the car, but it does have issues.

new inverter assy
2006 RX 400h at 96000 miles, average mpg is 25 , the best ever mpg 29.
Took to Lexus dealer to check front driver seat slipping on track ..
they found 2 bolts missing, estimate $100 to repair.Bolts have to be ordered.
Also the warnings "check VSC system", "check Hybrid system" came on and they are checking the recall notice to see if warnings are related to recall issues.
Then recommended the timing belt ,water pump replacement for $1100.
Corporate Lexus has determined that my warning lights are related to the recall and will make repairs on my 2006 RX 400h with 96000 miles. new inverter assy, All repairs are covered
Charge to replace two bolts on front seat $99.95 :-(

Nice. I wonder if this means the recall will be a new inverter, rather than just the module? Still, though, if the parts aren't ready till 2012, how did they fix yours?
Here's what I think....if your inverter fails prior to the recall parts being available, you get a new, recently built inverter, which should already have the improved module in it. If your inverter doesn't fail before the recall parts are ready, you will just get a new module in your old inverter.
I hope I'm wrong though...I'd like to see new inverters for everyone.
