Safety Recall BLD -Intelligent Power Module (IPM) Replacement
#61
I called my local "sealer" and they said they would not order the IPM part until I bring the vehicle in for service and they can verify the VIN. I told the service advisor that the recall pertains to ALL 2006 400h's and asked why he cannot order the part now and have the part ready when I bring it in so I don't have to leave the car for 2-3 days. Am I being that unreasonable? I don't want to leave the car for 2-3 days because its a pain in the azz to remove the child seat from the car and put it in the loaner.

It doesnt apply to all rxh's even 2006s. Just because the vin is IN it doesnt mean ur getting it done. Theres a sticker on the front side of the inverter, that part# + serial # determines if you get one at all. Im surprised the dealer doesnt have any, we have like 7 in stock... Hey if you open the hood and remove the small plastic cover in front of the synergy drive bigger cover u can see that sticker, post the part# plus the 9 digit serial and i can tell u wether u get a tank of gas or a recall

I wish Lexus had been more specific - so instead of people driving around like grannies, afraid to go over 100kw on the power meter and not towing for fear of turning into a mushroom cloud - owner's could just have confirmed "Is my VIN / inverter part # part of the recall?" and if it wasn't, then they could have continued happily motoring.
prowler97 - don't forget the recall for the crankshaft pulley (or whatever pulley it is) - might as well have that done while you're at the dealer.

Unfortunately the vin doesnt decifer which part supplier provided that particular pulley, as well as what inverter type is installed.. If you have any doubts i can run the serial# and tell you if ur inverter ia defective

Dropped off my 2006 RX400h to the dealer today to get my inverter problem fixed. Took them half an hour to look at the part number (and not the VIN) to confirm my car was part of the recall.
I can confirm that Lexus USA has the parts in stock now, but my dealer didn't.
Glad to get my car done before I head up to the snow in a few weeks. Said it would take about 4 business days to fix so they issued me a loaner.
Thoroughly impressed with my Lexus dealer.
*EDIT*
I am picking up my car today with the inverter recall fully fixed in addition to the ISC procedure done, and 1 button unlock of all doors all free of charge. I also got an oil change free of charge but only b/c this is my first visit with the dealer after being purchased certified preowned. Thoroughly impressed with my dealer (Lexus of Serramonte).

When I get home I can look up the official letter I got from Lexus Canada (though our recall # or 'campaign' number as toyota likes to call it might be different in Canada.
In the meantime, you can see this..

Would show online with Lexus if you have registered there under the Safety Recalls section:

I called my dealer Friday to ask if they were doing IPMs yet and they had me bring it in Monday. Picked it up today with new IPM and everything is fine. While it was there they inspected pulley which is fine, replaced the evaporator because of dust on dash (and the black dash still looks perfect with not a single mark!). Replaced hood and hatch supports, flushed the brake fluid and performed an alignment. All but brake fluid and alignment were paid for by lexus care warranty.
The only fail was related to the sunroof seal. The seal is not available as a replacement part and must be purchased attached to the $1300 sunroof glass.

I got the letter Tuesday so I decided to stop by my servicing dealer and asked when it could be done a few phone calls later by the service writer to verify parts and he said leave it now. So I left in a new 450h for a loaner. When I picked my vehicle up the next day I saw there price for the parts IPM was $275 inverter was $2,750 approximately.
